Sorry, but the Intergalactic Consortium has determined you are not, as a group, smart enough to survive. The increasing extinctions and environmental depredations have rendered your planet a galactic wasteland. We cannot entrust any further species to your irresponsible aegis. Therefore, we have concluded to avoid you. Maybe the whales or the wolves can evolve an intelligent culture, one in which the medium of exchange does not dominate life itself. We are deeply sorry to witness the death and destruction which have become hallmarks of your domain. Your short-sightedness has become legendary and truth to tell, without intending to insult, a bit of a colossal joke in the galaxy. Your prominent implement in existence seems to be killing. Although, it is true you have mastered fire, almost. You still use fire in all your technology and seem transfixed and mesmerized by it. If you should happen to move on beyond the use of fire before you utterly extinguish life on your planet, we will reconsider contact and essential engineering education.
Yours has been a most beautiful and dramatic culture. But before you vanish from the planet, we wanted to express condolence for all who have suffered only to have the planet ruined by greed and to mourn your failure. Do not feel slighted. Most evolutions do not pass the age of Pericles before they self-destruct through pursuit of rapacious wealth to command obedience, labor and intellectual mendacity.
