Impeach North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple and Morton County Sheriff Kyle KirchmeierI am glad to see this is written by a North Dakotan, Brendan Morrison!
This is long overdue, but we have to doubt that the Department of Justice under either Obama or Trump will take action, and therefore hope that there are some in the ND Legislature that will take the action we are requesting....
Note from Stephen Fox:
These are the distilled comments made on this petition over less than one hour, and I have edited all of those who simply said Yes, OR YES please prosecute. You will find mine below, in which I suggest that the author of the petition write an OEN article but specifically to layout what statutes might be applicable.
It is not enough to say Burn Him! Jail Him! Indict Him! etc. as the law is a lot more complex. Better to quietly cite the particular statutes rather than just scream for justice to be done, in my humble opinion.
I do think that that Governor crossed over the line by ordering these police actions on private property (obviously at the request of the developers!) My own Governor is a Republican and former prosecutor, and although we are from opposite poles politically, I know that she would never do ANY of the stuff Dalrymple has done. There is no compromise possible; this Governor has made that clear.
Please also realize that I am trying to come up with SOLUTIONS here that are equitable. At the heart of my interest and my own personal journalistic effort is the quest for Justice. I have seen all sorts of repression of civil unrest and have been the victim thereof (not in the past 40 years for me personally, however).
Please tell me if you can think of a more judicious ending here than the Governor and his sheriff getting an indictment as well as also him getting impeached. It won't happen unless there is a hue and cry, so sign both petitions, please, and add your voice to the international outrage and help reach a solution.
