Poor Obama, Poor Us

By       (Page 1 of 1 pages)   No comments
Message Reynard Blake Jr

Obama’s election
To President-Elect
To President
Obama is righteous
But, why would anyone
Oh why, would anyone
Want to be President
At THIS time
I’ll be praying for you
I’ll be praying for Us
Brothers and Sisters alike

But our crying
Celebrating a Brother
“Making It”
Belies our failure
Be fair to Brother Obama
And NOT make him
God
Allah
Ra
Messiah
Poor Obama
Poor Us

It’s sad:
Jesus can’t be
Depicted
With Brown skin
With Black skin
Due to White masters
Those good Christians
Those that enslaved
The Black masses
Those that believe
There’s no class
Blacks and Whites are equal
Racism has perpetual sequels
Poor Obama
Poor Us

I say poor Obama
At times he runs
Runs from his Blackness
To make himself
Make himself more palatable
More accessible
To White People
To the masses
“Biracial” is where he stands
It’s kinda like
Hedging his bets
On all the numbers
Red or Black
Cultural Roulette
Poor Obama
Poor Us

Will Obama be like a S’more?
Gooey and all mixed-up
Sweets blending together
Or, will he be the chocolate
Strong, dark chocolate
Overpowering
Empowered to seek truth and justice
To bust Bush thugs
If not
Poor Obama
Poor us

Justice isn’t a syrupy sweet
Crusting over
Justice explodes
Explodes with righteousness
It’s time to get Bush
Get him for treason and Iraq
Obama’s political capital
Take down the Bush crime family
Bring them before the capitol
Make Armstrong Williams
Make Condoleeza Rice
Backtrack
Backtrack
Backtrack
Barack CAN’T backtrack
Help Obama
Justice for us

Granted
The economy
The first task
But Obama can still get Bush too
That’s called multitasking
Obama can’t say Bush crimes are in the past
That gives Bush a pass
That makes Republicans more dangerous
Allows them to take off their masks
Gives them the freedom
Freedom
Freedom
Freedom
Freedom to put on their Klan hats
Makes it easy
Hanitty, Beck, Rush, and O’Reilly
Rampage Obama’s reputation
New right-wing conspiracies
They link to him Saddam
Change his name
Obama becomes Osama
Images of 9eleven
Will we let Obama get punk’d out
Again?
Again?
And Again?
Will good White people stand up?
Or just sing “We Shall Overcome?”
Work with Obama
Work with us

Where’s X when we need him?
He told Black men to stand
Barack shouldn’t worry about a 2nd term
Righteousness comes with responsibility
Righteousness is concerned
Concerned with the “Us and Us”
The dispossessed
The depressed
Those thinking they are middle class
Those finding out they are in a mess
If Barack doesn’t address
Poor Obama
And, even more
Poor us

But then
Is Obama really president?
So many Clinton cabinet members
So did Hillary and Bill win?
True, right-wing conspiracies
Haunting Bill and Hillary
But, he can’t feel sorry for them
Will he make his own choices?
Or, is he in the White House just to grin?
If so
Poor Obama
Poor us

Shame on people
Thinking Obama’s Superman
Superman fights for freedom
Superman fights for the American way
Obama just says “Yes, we can!”
But will he check out Orrin Hatch
Republican e-mail thefts
Democrat victims
Will Obama address this drama?
Or, run like a fugitive slave?
Poor Obama
Poor Us
Justice lost
But justice costs

Black, Brown, Yellow, and White
All precious in God’s sight
He didn’t say Wright was right
He didn’t highlight Wright’s truth
Implied that he was a silly, old man
Wright implied we cleanse ourselves from Bush sins
When does the cleansing begin?
Barack just chastises Bush in a speech
Then smiles like Uncle Ben
(Will Barack get Rice?)
Poor Obama
Poor Us

Equality’s not reached
But preachers still preach
More verses of “We Shall Overcome”
Poor people
Overrun
Uncle Ben and friends
Need reprimands
Sadly, young’ins think “The Promised Land” is here
This represents a descent into madness
Definitely, poor us

Universal health care must be done
We can’t let Obama run from this
Barack’s not Forest Gump
Barack’s a brilliant man
Help poor people
Help distressed people
We can’t say
We won’t say
“Run, Barack, run!”
With things undone
If he does
Poor Obama
Poor us

Preachers imply
We reached King’s mission
Our character should get us by
Brothers and Sisters in prison can’t listen
Busted for weed?
And not nonviolent
Is justice served on “just us?”
Jails made in rustic places
Rural folks get paid
Freedom isn’t free
Freedom becomes a lie
Black unemployment doubled than Whites
If not addressed
Poor Obama
Poor us

Brothers and Sisters livin’ in mental ghettos
Brothers and Sisters livin’ in real ghettos
Granted, some ghettos are prettier than others
Because Whites can vote for Obama
But can’t live next to Sisters and Brothers
Can Barack address this issue?
Nonwhites can’t live where they want
They’re in prisons just the same
They just get furloughs
To work and eat
They’re just moving social security numbers
All prisoners, just the same
It’s just
Poor us

Obama just stands
Semi-preaching
Usher and Bono sing
Even Tiger speaks
Bruce croons a tune
But, are people foolin’ themselves?
Obama, the lesser of 2 evils?
Me and Karen hope we’re wrong
But it’s hard to believe
Especially with corporate media
Obama must make sure truth comes out
Peace and lies don’t mix
Lies are the tools of mice, not men
Progressive he should be
‘Cause Centrist can’t cut it always
At least not on every issue
He started off weak
He let Warren speak?
Gays to Warren are lost souls
I didn’t know he was Pope
Does Obama kiss his ring?
The “Queen of Soul” sings
But Yo-Yo fakes it?
Will Obama have more than cultural meaning?
Will Obama inspire righteous power?
We hope not
Poor Obama
Justice
Just for some of us?

So, what can Obama do?
He’s got a lot on his plate
He’s got priorities
Jobs we need
No corporate greed
Especially AIG
Detroit’s in need
Line workers bleed
Mismanaged GM
Hurts people
Sea to shining sea
Grief for the jobless
Seeking funds
Solution: infrastructure
People need to know
Politicians that fail us
Become obsolete
Help Obama create
Congressional heat
Lobbyists deleted

Remember
WE are his partners
Government jobs are good
Military jobs are cool
That’s NOT socialist!
Wrong is Rush!
He wants to create Uncle Toms
Like Clarence Thomas
Rush and conservatives
Seek to reactivate
Slavery in ALL forms
White, Black, Red, & Brown
Keep labor unions down
Poverty
Becomes more commonplace
People reduced
“May I help you, please?” society
Service jobs are fine
With intellectually blunted minds?
Sometimes there’s too much diversity
Immigrants hired
Americans get door prizes or sales
Microsoft becomes foreign
To users and jobs
Vista is lunacy
Workers with accents
Buyers with just cents
Nonsense!
Obama help us
Or more “Poor Us”

Let’s fight conservative ways:
Taxes for the many
To support a few
Rush, et al. believe greed is good
Like Gordon Gekko
Aww, no!
Wall Street is not a playground
Lies of corporate “Dead Man Walking” used
CEO’s sing the blues
Yet, Maddoff’s cool
People need to fight
Fight the good fight
Will Obama do it too?
Obama, wise up
Otherwise
It’s poor we, poor us, and poor you!

And, it’s good riddance
For poor Obama
Allowing more poor us!
Is America blessed?
Or, is America doomed?
We’ll stay tuned
