The President gave his State of the Union speech last night, but I don't know who he was giving it to exactly, but it wasn't me. As an unemployed and formerly homeless person, the speech described more about America by what he didn't say. The unemployed, the struggling and the suffering were excluded, as the President declared the Depression over. He based that belief on Wall Street averages and corporate profits and then he said, we don't base success in America on Wall Street and corporate profits. That seems to be Obama's modus operandi, to say something for emphasis and then to say, but that's not to say.
The theme last night was, let's all make nice here in the sand box, after all, we're all Republican's here. It greatly reminded me of a Soviet People's Party Congress. Everyone applauds at the appropriate time, everyone stands and cheers for the new five year plan. Everyone pretends that this actually means something or will actually count for something. Everyone cheers or frowns according to their bosses desires.

This was our Maalox moment, a testing of the collective gag reflex that is in all of us.

Bureau of Labor Statistics - In December 2010, nonfarm payroll employment decreased in 35 states and the District of Columbia and increased in 15 states. The largest over-the-month employment decreases were in New York (-22,800) , Minnesota (-22,400) , Florida (-17,900) , and Georgia (-17,500) . These numbers are for December, a traditional time of an employment uptick and yet the employment numbers are bad and so, the President chooses to ignore them. Unemployment for the year averages 9.63 percent and the President Declares the Recession (Depression) over!
The civilian labor force somehow shrank by 260,000 between October 2010 and December 2010! The number of employed rose by 297,000 while the number of persons listed as unemployed fell by 556,000 but stranger still, the number of persons dropped from the system as "Not in Labor Force" rose by 434,000. These numbers would embarrass the even Nevada state boxing commission.
"We did that in December. Thanks to the tax cuts we passed, Americans' paychecks are a little bigger today. Every business can write off the full cost of new investments that they make this year. And these steps, taken by Democrats and Republicans, will grow the economy and add to the more than one million private sector jobs created last year."

God bless tax cuts, I had the distinct impression that I was watching the ghost of Ronald Reagan last night. A man of whom it can be said, never saw a tax cut he didn't like.
"I've seen it in the shuttered windows of once booming factories, and the vacant storefronts on once busy Main Streets. I've heard it in the frustrations of Americans who've seen their paychecks dwindle or their jobs disappear - -" proud men and women who feel like the rules have been changed in the middle of the game.
They're right. The rules have changed. In a single generation, revolutions in technology have transformed the way we live, work and do business. Steel mills that once needed 1,000 workers can now do the same work with 100. Today, just about any company can set up shop, hire workers, and sell their products wherever there's an Internet connection."

The President, while smiling, is telling the middle class to F*ck off and deal with it. Corporate America is in charge here. Ronald Reagan got government off your back and Mr. Obama has no intention of changing that, there is no help coming for you! It was really the most honest paragraphs of the entire speech. Screw you little people! And your little dogs too!
