Bernie Sanders is talking about healthcare for all. He says,
"Health care must be recognized as a right, not a privilege -- every man, woman and child in our country should be able to access quality care regardless of their income."
That got me thinking. Even indigenous people-- authoritarian, religious types call them savages-- even savages provide healthcare for all. Every member of the tribe is given care and treatment, except for one category of tribe member. One member of the tribe doesn't get that treatment.
The person the indigenous "savage" tribe does not provide healthcare to is the person who the tribe expels, the greedy one who hoards and does not share. In modern times, we call these people billionaires and the ultra-wealthy. The wisdom of savages-- and I do believe it is wisdom dictates that those who do not share the commons do not deserve to be considered a part of it. For some, I am sure they are considered insane.
Of course we have things upside down. In the United States, the wealthiest, most selfish get the best care. The poorest, most vulnerable get nothing. They die because they can't afford medical care-- testing, diagnosis, treatment, medication. And very often their families, even families with health insurance, go bankrupt from medical bills.
We should learn from the "savages", who are not really savages, and start doing what every other first world nation does-- and provide healthcare as a human right... and while we're at it, expel the billionaires, after giving them a chance to give their inappropriate wealth back to the commons-- to the people.
