It runs the gamut from Tom Brokaw all the way to Bill O'Reilly. That is, from conservative to spit-flyin' right wing maniac.
Anyone who saw Brokaw on Meet the Press about a week ago surrogating for John McStrange knows instantly that we liberals have almost no voice whatsoever on the all-powerful television spectrum.
Yet the lie of the "liberal" press is swallowed whole.
We muddle blindly from election to election while the hovering mountain of money that manipulates our biennial Fib-Fest remains clouded from public view. Especially invisible are the behind-the-scenes television pay offs. Invisble... until 2 days ago.

to the networks for favorable coverage. Quaintly, he calls the "tax cuts".
The folks at ThinkProgress displayed a great clarifying moment of How It All Works with one simple chart. The nets are in for another windfall of profits while the middle class remains trapped in this black well of financial madness with no one tossing down a rope... unless we're investment bankers or arrow makers. (Anyone see the lard slapped on the Bailout bill when it went from 3 pages to 451 pages? Tax relief for rum and arrow makers? You've got to be kidding.)
Favorable broadcast coverage of the embarrassing McStrange and Winky Show by the omnipotent media is making the numbers too close for comfort. Not to mention covering Winky's crowds who dangerously cal out to assassins "Kill him, kill him"... with nary a Secret Service investigation in the works. Can television really do this?! You betcha, especially when they're in for a nice fat pay off. Oh, excuse me.... a "tax cut".
Given that Oil Man's Curse has overshadowed and enfeebled our country in a mere 8 years, why aren't O and Joe simply wiping them out in the polls by 20% maybe 25% you ask yourself? This is why. Right here. Right today you can see it with your own eyes. It's the lop-sided coverage on the tube.
The Professional Liars with flag pins are able to throw around reckless smears like "Obama pals around with terrorists"- only because they know the networks will pick it.
Talk about naked quid pro quos.
Thus the ongoing TV show, the con and neo-con coverage that subjects us to the staged folksy imagery, the branding of The Maverick who isn't, the no-follow up questions in a "tough"- debate, and lately the cloaked sequestering of Winky and her stack of scripted index cards while she's being moved from hidey hole to hidey hole by dark of night. With hardly a question from the "press corp"... neutered into silence, relegated to taking dictation, furiously scribbling Rove's talking points.
You have to admire the stagecraft. She's becoming a well-scripted prairie dog popping up out of holes here and there, then vanishing faster than Death Spiral John can ditch a plane. No questions from reporters, please. Wink. Oh, and now you can't even ask questions from her raging supporters in the packed crowds.
The public, The Great Unread, simply doesn't question any of this.
Instead they tune to the slanderous Fox "News"- for the debates, a clearly pubescent network that pulled in almost the same amount of viewers as Disney's ABC- the number one rated network for the un-contentious debates that featured the theatrics of the ever-ingratiating Sarah of the Welcome Wagon.
