The lines at the auto salvage/recycle center were out into the street again this morning. I wonder if any of the recyclers were giving a silent thank you to the Government for not ending the wars or restricting trade with foreign powers. Both of which suck up our used steel faster than we as a nation can wreck our vehicles or destroy our major appliances. This is a human interest side of the War economy most don't notice. What with all the attention being given to the Major players like Halliburton and Black Water. But it goes on my friend. The War economy is making money for people locally too. That's why I don't hold the Congress to the fire too much for dragging their feet on this. After all, Politics is local.
But Business is good for the Anti War folks too. Protest planners are making big bucks clearing the Civic hurdles for groups wishing to exercise their first amendment rights on the streets of our great diversified Nation. Speakers, Pundits, Entertainers are all cashing in at these rallies. Even the portalet business receives a bump. Vendors of all kinds make hay while the sun shines as Americans in droves leave the comfort of their abode for an afternoon of Civic conscience. Now where would all these people be if Congress cut the funding for the War? Indeed, what would writers write about? I'm almost ready to proclaim War as a beautiful thing.
Sadly in life I've noticed that one man's bad luck is another man's windfall. You needn't look too far to understand me. Your roof springs a leak, your roofer gets a project. Your Car stalls, Your Mechanic get a mornings work. You get sick and your Doctor gets to take a months salary from you for a quick visit and few pills. God help you if you need a Doctor's help for more than just that. So while the Nation grieves with California over the pain and so much Loss from these "wild" fires, rest assured that all is not gloom and doom.
Already Housing construction firms and financial entities are positioning themselves for what shall surely be a money storm unparalleled in disaster history. FEMA phony News conferences aside the Federal printing presses are getting ready to cover California in CASH MONEY. There is going to be more work than you can shake a stick at from first cleaning up the mess to the rebuilding. Everyone from Politicians, Bankers to General Contractors and the Illegal Alien work force sees this as a career maker. TV and journalism is already cashing in. Even Al Queda is getting publicity as some speculate the fires are Terrorism. Only in America. My Country.
Investors will do well of course, but on the retail level, Concrete, Lumber, Home builder supplies, Plumbing, Electrical, Landscaping, the list goes on I'm sure, will all have banner years for several years to come from the California Fires. And the fires aren't even out yet as I write this morning. But, opportunity and the "making" of your own luck are two different things. I mean the OIL Business is doing well right now too.
So we get the Democrats calling Turkey, Genociders, Turkey invading Iraq all of a sudden, Iran gets more sanctions and presto, finally 90$ a barrel crude OIL prices. I thought for sure the California fires would be held responsible for aggravating the Oil Futures markets too, but perhaps they're saving that one. Speculators use the Price of crude as a hedge against the falling dollar. They need a hedge since they have so many Dollars. Speculators take this money from you and me with the Oil companies blessing. Anyone who wishes to tell me Government has no influence on OIL prices is just being naive. You can only take willing suspension of disbelief so far. Oil Companies allow speculators to drive up the price of crude, oil companies then sell the crude they have contracts for, buy it back from the speculators and pass all the price increases on to you and me. It's so simple really. Government and media create the house of horrors and fear that give credibility to the speculative prices being paid for crude. Make your own luck baby!
Whatever, I can go on whining or just wrap this up with a positive note. The positive note is this, my writers block ended this morning and I managed to scribble down some observations. I hope you, my reader, find them interesting and thought provoking. Then, I hope you have a nice snack and enjoy the comfort of the day. I wish all in California the best. The Speculators and the Oil Companies don't need our well wishes. As I said, they make their own luck with the help of the Globalist Politicians they have in their back pocket. And that would be all of them it seems. Anyway, onwards and upwards because as for now, my ride continues.
