Ongoing and Barbaric Kerry Slaughter is Starting to Backfire

For a third straight day, Republicans are dragging John Kerry's body in circles around Capitol Hill like a tribe of wild savages. They never cared about an apology to the troops, even if Kerry had insulted them.

Now there are signs that they have gone too far, and what they hoped was a Democratic "scandal" that would change the tide of the elections is rolling back inevitably upon them. Even after Kerry made an apology that was never necessary, Republicans continued to pour gasoline upon his effigy and dance around the flames like a pack of Palestinians who had just learned of an attack on America.

Now even Republicans are admitting how ashamed they are of this administration's behavior. One Colorado Republican said, "It just shows me how greedy they've become. I mean they want power at any cost." He added, "Kerry apologized for his comment, but [the Republicans are] still attacking him. I don't really like him, but I think some of them owe him an apology now."

Many people who were first angry with Kerry now share this man's sentiment. Most of them changed their minds after watching hordes of self-interested Republican politicians clamber over each other to tear Kerry limb-from-limb for 72 hours straight. It looked too contrived. People smelled a rat. The Republicans couldn't hide their smiles as they destroyed Kerry's reputation, leading people to conclude that they never really cared about the troops in the first place.

Some are upset with news radio stations like ABC who have made this a headline story for three days running, even without any substantial "newsworthy" developments.

Political talk show host Michael Savage alienated a section of listeners when a caller told him that the military wasn't upset with Kerry's comments. Savage asked the man, "Who the hell are you? The man replied, "I'm a US soldier." Savage, living up to his satanic last name, retorted, "Well how do you expect to speak for the whole military? You're a life long democrat... You know what you are sir? You're an ignoramus."

Comments like these have exposed the desperation Republicans are letting destroy their credibility. Tony Snow has angered veterans by claiming that Kerry has had a life-long contempt for the military. McCain has further deteriorated his legitimacy as a middle-of-the-road conservative by grandstanding over the fallen Kerry when kicking him was easy.

The Republicans never thought that the pesky voters would be an obstacle. They have blocked voters and rigged machines and run roughshod over opponents who stood in their way. They have assassinated the characters and reputations of people like Colin Powell and Dick Clark, who have spoken out against their malevolent designs. They have figuratively hanged "traitors" who estimated that Iraq would push the US to the point of bankruptcy. They have channeled our taxes to the limousine class, which has in turn has made an abomination of Christian values.

For a third straight day they are dragging John Kerry's body around Capitol Hill, but it is starting to dawn on them that they are the only ones laughing. In the hearts of the Americans watching this disgusting spectacle there is a smoldering feeling of outrage. This isn't right. A decorated war veteran and politician careful of offending constituents would clearly never have insulted 140,000 soldiers. Kerry doesn't deserve this and his attackers are suddenly finding themselves without shelter or retreat.
