NYC Neglects 9-11 Rescue Workers

First, let me make it clear that I am a New Yorker, the first 27 years of my life spent enmeshed and in love with The City. So whatever I may believe about the origin of the tragedy of 9-11 is irrelevant to the derivative tragedy that New York's finest""its police and firefighters""could be allowed to languish in an illness clearly contracted during their heroic rescue activities on that fateful day and the subsequent months of search and cleanup. And the idea that neither NYC nor the federal government has made almost no effort to genuinely help these individuals should make all loyal Americans wonder about the motivations of the Bush and Bloomberg administrations. And, in my opinion, you can toss the "presidential" Giuliani in for good measure. Lotta rhetoric, little response.

A widely studied regimen including exercise, sauna bathing, and vitamin, mineral and oil supplements is employed as a detoxification methodology for removing heavy metals and other toxins from the bodies of these heroic men and women.
The rub is that this medical treatment is being funded by charitable contributions, funneled into an organization known as The New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Project, http://www.nydetox.org/ --PLEASE CONTRIBUTE! Moreover, both this organization and its techniques demonstrate the infatuation of Western Medicine with treating symptoms.

Reports from the mouths of the affected men themselves tell us that the official response to this massive epidemic has mostly been to interview the sick, take copious notes, and recommend visits to family physicians. No offer of therapy, of course, means no admission of liability. God forbid that either the feds or my beloved City should take responsibility for individuals, many of whom can no longer breathe normally, have almost completely lost their vitality and their quality of life, and who, in many cases, have lost or are losing their marriages or relationships to chronic depression. Chronic debilitating illness tends to produce such outcomes. Why? Not only because they have been abandoned by their employer and their country, but also because traditional medicine's response has been oh so typical: treat symptoms""inhaled steroids and other symptomatic palliators. And although these treatments have largely kept the men and women alive, the underlying problem of toxins residing in their bodies""particularly in fatty tissues""remains; and with it the seriously diminished quality of life

Enter the heroic New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Project, recently interviewed on Air America Radio by Janeane Garofalo. Thank goodness for this charitable organization and its techniques, which gradually cleanse the body of its accumulated toxins""PLEASE PLEASE CONTRIBUTE. And thank them so much for saving the reputation of the American people as compassionate and caring (even if their governmental representatives are trying their best to prove otherwise).
