Because of the deplorable unhealthy environment of Metro Tower, David is disabled from performing his duties as an air traffic controller. He has been disabled for almost 2 years. In addition, like many of his co-workers, he has attended numerous medical appointments. (in his case over 350). This has created a serious physical, mental and financial burden on David and his family.
In addition to fighting various work-related injuires - David now must fight the threat of his employment - the Federal Aviation Administration. He recently received a threatening letter of termination. This was shortly followed by a letter of commendation for dedicated service. It's hard to believe after all David's years of serving his country that the Federal Aviation Administration cannot find gainful employment suitable to the disabilties they created. He's developed many talents in all these years of service.
David is in no way trying to be selfish by focusing on his health issues. The scope of medical damages is far beyond just David's illness. He strongly desires to meet with those who are fully aware of this most disturbing situation. It's important to understand the years of sacrifice David and his family have made serving their country. The sacrifices and serious injuries suffered after transferring to Detroit Metro have been especially extreme.
David and many in his neighborhood are not only concerned with his health, but they are deeply concerned with the safety of air travelers though the air spaces under the control of Metro controllers. He daily shares his incredible story with anyone who will listen. The great cost and extreme loss to him and other voting taxpapers has become enormous, even unbelievable.
David has contacted many Senators and Congressman in the past two years. He states they notified the FAA about this alarming situation on several occasions. The deplorable conditions continue despite letters from Congress and a total awareness of the situation. It appears no one is doing anything at all. What now?

My name is Iris Harden. My husband, Tlee and I are victims of toxic mold and trichothecene poisoning. After talking to David via phone a few days ago, I told him I would share his story in hopes that someone will take immedicate and appropiate action.
Before I told him any of our health effects, he told me some of the ways he had been affected. Eye problems, respiratory infections, cognitive issues, loss of focus, slurred speech, problems walking, involuntary spasms, inabilty to sleep, waking up at night gasping for air, chest pain and burning, neuro-related injuries.... Obviously an educated man, David lost much of his vocabulary. He couldn't use big words anymore. [Thankfully, he has regained some of his problems with words]]
Hundreds of doctor visits searching for answers; many wasted appointments; baffled physicians; frustration; thoughts of just giving up; stress on not only him, but his dear family; physical, emotional and financial devastation...
I thought: Here we go again. The same old story; Only the faces and places change. With this illness, the symptoms vary. We all have different genetic make-ups. Our immune systems are not the same. But once these mycotoxins affect you, systemically, your entire body begins to deteriorate. Unbelievable! But so sadly true.
A mycotoxin is a toxin (poison) produced from fungi/mold. If we're inhaling, absorbing and ingesting a known poison, how can it not harm us? The agent that poisoned us is called trichothecene - a deadly agent of biowarfare - produced from molds such as fusarium, stachybotrys, among others. It's my understanding some of the type molds have been found in Detroit Metro Tower.
Being terminated from his job? David's credentials and many years of service seem to speak for themselves. How in the world can they fire this man for being sick? Or should I say from being sick as a result of working in a building that made him sick? David did nothing to bring this on himself. He is an innocent victim of a sick building. He has a mold-induced environmental illness. This man is suffering through no fault of his own.
Since Tlee and I were diagnosed, our eyes were opened to what a serious health issue this is. We found out much of it is being swept under the rug. Despite so much human suffering, people are turning their heads the other way. It's like we don't really exist.
I decided to devote the rest of my life to warning others of the adverse health effects of toxic mold.
