Laboratory Of Nations Or Fascist Globalization?

Today's forced-trade driven "globalization" process is fast breeding a global monoculture - i.e. one controlled by capital alone in a "whether we like it or not" process designed to remove the power and prerogatives of nation states, local regions, wage-laboring majorities, and defeat democracy itself.

In effect, capital's Efficiency-Uber-Alles "harmonization" process is all about money, global markets, greater-slave-based amoral efficiencies, and getting rid of different forms of culture, economy, and local law-giving.

In effect, it is capital's pernicious amorality aimed at removing First World values, rights, freedoms and standards of living... all for the convenience and profit of global concerns. Of course, it is also for the hoary and naive dreams of all the New World Order enthusiasts bent on eliminating the power and influence of all those pesky nation states wherein local freedom and culture reign.

Of course, the stated reasons for "globalization" are that everyone benefits from what is an effectively forced interdependency, removal of local perogatives, and a lowering of First World standards. Despite the losses and huge trade deficits the "universal gain" gambit is forever trotted out to dissuade dissenters. Imperial interdependency is ever-touted as infallibly breeding peace and integration. But interdependency with whom? On what terms? At what cost? To what end?

Due to the way in which it has emerged, globalization as we know it is not simply a happy-face interdependency process. Rather, it is a top-down tyranny geared to maximizing corporate profit, all within a scheme destined to produce global oligarchy, oligopoly, and monoculture - i.e., the worst of worlds.

Today's ruling elite, central bank-owning, money-power regime and their corporate-media captive political puppets do not care about real democracy, nor do they countenance any freedom or human rights which do not advance their oligarchic schemes. Indeed, our very values, freedoms, and historic rights are impediments to their global, for-profit, goals. Damm that nation state!

For today's cabal of fascist capitalists, and their economist lackies, their ends justify their means. Their ends and goals, determined by the few, must then be implemented via corruption and deceit, for the simple reason they would never be freely voted for by any wage-laboring majority.

Did Americans rise up and say, please, force me to compete with captive Chinese neo-slaves making a dollar a day? And yet we are told we must and, further, that we will become a "service economy" - servicing the ruling class objectives by continually lowering our wages, benefits and the value of our currency... all "in order to compete." Gosh, what a deal!

And all this sovereignty destroying scheme without any trade balancing mechanisms? No tariffs allowed. We are thus forced to use monetary policy to fix trade policy, which will then screw up fiscal policy - all because of giving away trade and tariff policy perogatives... those being perfectly rational and fit for a greatly disparate and undemocratic world.

It is largely for their hatred of, and on-going campaign against, any form of economic democracy that ruling elites hate the nation state - i.e., that dastardly bastion of local freedom, custom, and culture. Indeed, all manner of evil is ascribed to the nation state in order that a global corporate regime may be instituted... from the top down, in a safe "managed" democracy.

Yes, the origin of many a nation state may well be corrupt, cruel, and result of past imperialisms. However, this is no reason to institute a fascist, top-down, globalization effectively destroying local freedom and democracy. Moreover, we have effectively turned around many miscreants states with boycotts and sanctions.

In any case, the so-called "free trade" process, written by and for big corporations (and not approved by any National Initiative in the USA) is how this tyranny of capital is first advanced. Indeed, trade decisions and treaties are not vetted by boards comprised of equal elements of labor and capital, nor passed by any National Initiative process. Instead, they are fast-tracked by "our" representatives who are extorted and bought off in a corrupt process - as seen with every other legislative crime of the last century or two. Unfortunately, the people have no "fast-track" treaty powers of their own.

In fact, most of these trade treaties and other globalization efforts do not reflect the will of the people, and they most certainly do not reflect the will of the wage-earning majorities - and that is the problem.

Ruling elites appear to have an inborn, amoral, totalitarian, impulse.

Clearly, however, there is nothing wrong with cooperation, integration, and interdependency per se, so long as it arises from honest democratic processes and votes of the people - and not from secretive, no-appeal, panels and bought-off "representatives" selling out their own constituents.

Unfortunately, this is not the case either today or yesterday, and the totalitarian capitalist schema continues today with behind-the-media-scenes planning for a "North American Union." Like the Federal Reserve and GATT-NAFTA schemes, a similar legislative fait accompli is planned for the NAU.

In essence, it is not even so much about the ends, as it is about the means. If the means are corrupt and undemocratic then the ends are bound to be wrong, counterproductive, and costly. The current backlash to forced globalization around the world, and in recent elections in Latin America, reflect this reality.

Alternatively, a laboratory of states and nation-states enables the greatest degree of freedom, experimentation, cultural latitude, and local democracy. It may also mean some states may be less free than others or, in the case of a North Korea, both dangerous and backward. Yet we do not imprison all states for the crimes, or potential crimes, of one.

Is the existence of one or a few bad apples reason to remove the nation-state freedoms of all, and proceed to end any greater local freedom, culture, and democracy? I think not, yet this is the ruling elite's "rogue state" and "interdependency" rationale.

Is not a cloistered and independent Tibet a blessing, as opposed to an imperialist Chinese state of tyranny? Is Denmark dangerous? Switzerland bad?

In any case, the ruling elite's trade deals (read forced trade with the greater slave) take away our levers to demand better standards and foster democracy. They reward the greater slave and slavemaster, against whom we must compete in a sick and twisted race to the bottom. They sacrifice a Tibet to "engage" a despotic China. In effect, they give away our markets and we get nothing in return - it is beyond dumb and treason is the word that comes to mind.

This, in essence, is today's fascist globalization (aimed at your resources, freedom, independence and democracy) and it is a dismal setup never voted for by the vast majority. As a result of such capitalist tyranny, it may well mean a new era of terrorism against the rich emerging - after the religious simpletons currently blowing innocents away discover who are their real enemies.

In any case, in the USA, from the beginning, we have taken pride in our "laboratory of states" model - wherein a republican form of federation allows both local control and national federation-cooperation if desired. This setup assumes, of course, that all the states of the republic reflect the will of the people via truly honest democratic processes, with honest voting machines, and that neither their majority-driven perogatives, nor minority rights, are taken away by a single person in a single, 5-4, Supreme Court decision.

Only in this from-the-ground-up fashion does democracy have any meaning. In this way we respect our own history, tradition, local customs and economy and allow for ourselves, and all others around the world, the widest variety of human rights and freedoms within one's own democracy-driven, freely-chosen, socio-economic, arrangement. It is the only way we preserve any cultural freedom and variety and avoid the pathetic, plastic, McWorld we are now forced to create.

In other words, as with Nature, we value diversity over monoculture. We value local freedom, human rights, and effective democracy over any global interdependency for its own sake.

In biology, monoculture is a disease-state and a weak bad seed on its way to a premature demise. A monoculture, both in society and nature, is the weakest and most vulnerable of structures, and so the most susceptible to disease and to the dis-ease of the people. A mono, global,culture is surely the most depressing of conditions, particularly if it is not the result of truly ground up, democratic, local choices for interdependency and cooperation.

A pluralism and freedom for diversity should be the approach in any more interconnected world - i.e., a laboratory of nations, not a forced and fascist globalization and dreary monoculture dictated from the top down by capital's ruling economic forces.

Yet that is what "we" are breeding today - i.e., a dismal global monoculture of neo-slave states with their powers wrested from the people and placed in agencies of the unelected... independent, of course, of any great labor representation. This top-down, fascism-by-appointment, regime is, predictably, brewing global backlash and may soon mean new bloodlettings of the rich and powerful - despite all the efforts to distract the populace with wars and info-tainment.

In any case, nation states are not a problem per se. Yes, we may have problems with some few nation-states. The real question, however, is whether today's nation states have any real freedom left - controlled as they are by private central banks, corporate media and campaign finance, and appointments to key positions and offices vetted by big capital alone.

In truth, we do not have effective democracy today, we have well-oiled, money-is-speech, oligarchies - all the more reason to preserve nation-state powers and freedoms in order to see that any globalization, harmonization, and interdependency proceeds democratically... from the bottom-up. Rewarding the greater slave, and punishing the greater democracy, is not the way to start this, or any other, socio-economic process.

Clearly, globalization would be one thing if all nations were in nearly the same economic development stage, if all had truly effective democracies, if all elected their trade and UN representatives, and the people owned their central banks. Here then, a federation and cooperation of truly democratic states is one thing, but today's effectively forced globalization of puppet oligarchies, and greatly disparate nations and cultures, is quite another.

Lastly, modern communications technology is not an excuse to end local perogatives, prevent tariff freedoms suitable for a very disparate and un-democratic world, or institute a global oligarchy. Still, the fascist dreamers dream on.

Clearly, there is no such thing as top-down democracy, only the "managed democracy" fraud of the ruling elites. Consider that we do not elect our representative to the United Nations, and we do not elect our representative to a public central bank, nor do we elect our mega-media editors. Worse, we do not have a National Initiative process with which to overrule our corporate controlled legislators. Lastly, our voting machines and processes are now being hijacked and privatized. What do we have left?

Who are we kidding? We're living in a stone cold oligarchy busy producing a world-wide neo-slavery and global oligopoly. In short, we have no effective democracy, nor any democratic globalization by which the majority of wage-earning people agree to, or agree not to, give up local culture and national prerogatives.

Such ruling elite force acts to separate and breed resistance, not bring us together in a peaceful and free fashion. So, are we coming together or falling apart? Even Euroland is now on the ropes, and the recent elections in South America do not portend any sympathy for globalization as we know it.

We will probably have, like in the Soviet Union at the end, so much ethnic strife that the mind boggles."

Vladimir Bukovsky is a former leading Soviet dissident imprisoned for twelve years in Soviet gulags and psychiatric hospitals for his fight for freedom. His observations, in a recent inteview should give all globalists pause:

"According to Communist doctrine as well as to many forms of Socialist thinking, the state, the national state, is supposed to wither away. In Russia, however, the opposite happened. Instead of withering away the Soviet state became a very powerful state, but the nationalities were obliterated. But when the time of the Soviet collapse came these suppressed feelings of national identity came bouncing back and they nearly destroyed the country. It was so frightening.
PB: Do you think the same thing can happen when the European Union collapses?

VB: Absolutely, you can press a spring only that much, and the human psyche is very resilient you know. You can press it, you can press it, but don't forget it is still accumulating a power to rebound. It is like a spring and it always goes to overshoot.
PB: But all these countries that joined the European Union did so voluntarily.

VB: No, they did not. Look at Denmark which voted against the Maastricht treaty twice. Look at Ireland [which voted against the Nice treaty]. Look at many other countries, they are under enormous pressure. It is almost blackmail. Switzerland was forced to vote five times in a referendum. All five times they have rejected it, but who knows what will happen the sixth time, the seventh time. It is always the same thing. It is a trick for idiots. The people have to vote in referendums until the people vote the way that is wanted. Then they have to stop voting. Why stop? Let us continue voting. The European Union is what Americans would call a shotgun marriage."

A trick for idiots, indeed.

In short, many clearly do not understand, nor care to address, the on-going force of tradition, culture and religion. As flaky and counterproductive as we may believe various elements of society, culture and religion to be around the globe today, forcing top-down change is simply a recipe for disaster.

Surely many of our existing problems and conditions are the result of imperialisms and dogmas both past and present... call it also the bad karma of colonialization and top-down globalization, with Iraq being the latest example.

Nevertheless, for globalization, or the freely chosen lack thereof, to be both wanted and successful, first the ruling must surrender their controls over our banking, media, political and electoral processes and re-empower the vast majority. Any more interconnected world must be democratic from the ground up, from local power to international cooperation, or these fascist-built associations and their members will likely suffer the consequences.

Unfortunately, ruling elites have purposely given away the levers of the free and democratic and left us without protection from the worst of freedoms, slaveries, and environmental assaults. Only by rebuilding WTO-GATT-NAFTA can we re-start the process and fix an ailing, undemocratic, globalization before it implodes in mutual enmity, and currency collapse.

In the USA, from the very beginning, we have taken pride in our "laboratory of states" model. Herein, a republican form of federation produces both local control and, if needed and wanted, national cooperation. This assumes, of course, that states of the republic are run via truly honest democratic processes.
In this way we are free to respect history, tradition, local culture and customs, local economy, and preserve the widest variety of human rights and freedoms within such arrangements. The same should be the approach in any more interconnected world - i.e., a laboratory of free nations determining their level of interdependency, and not a forced, fascist, globalization and monoculture dictated from the top by capital's ruling economic forces.

Given effectively forced trade and globalization we are witnessing a veritable repeal of the twentieth century, and all its hard-won gains for middle-class majorities. The result is that a First World state of affairs may never be seen again unless wage-laboring majorities regain the power to determine the nature of their economy and society. In addition, if we are not free to care for, and control, our farmlands and rivers, then global corporations without situs or sypathy for local conditions may continue to proceed to ruin one place and move on to another.... in a corporate slash, cash, and run ethic.

What "we" are breeding today is a global monoculture of neo-slave states, all with their powers wrested from the people and placed in so-called independent agencies of the unelected. Independent of whom? Who are we kidding?

We are living in well-oiled oligarchies fast becoming one big global oligarchy... busy producing a world-wide neo-slavery and dismal global oligopoly. In short, we have no effective economic democracy today and re-capturing it is now a nation by nation process...from the ground up.
