Last night was Hillary's last night. It is the beginning of the end for her long, distinguished political career. With the help of moderators Charles Gibson and former Clinton Campaign Advisor George Stephanopolous, Hillary was willing to do her best FOX News Anchor imitation, and effectively end any chance she had to be a Democratic Candidate for President, or any other office, for that matter.
Hillary smirked as moderators chose to waste America's time with such valuable issues as whether or not Obama likes to wear flag lapel pins; she gleefully joined in to attack him for his choice in attending Trinity United Church of Christ, having no compunction whatsoever about judging every single parishioner’s judgment in not immediately fleeing the building the very first time Reverend Jeremiah Wright made a controversial statement, however true; she delighted in adding to the accusations that Obama was aligned with controversial Black Power figures, even fanning the flames by adding Farrakhan to the already combustible mix of innuendo and demagoguery. She might have wanted to stay away from that attack, considering her husband had recently pardoned members of the Weather Underground before leaving office.
Hillary Clinton will never again be so much as Dog Catcher as an elected Democrat, even if such an elected office existed, and it doesn't. She certainly ended her run at being the Democratic nominee, and she did so in utter disgrace. She has joined Joe McCarthy and Sean Hannity in the annals of famous freedom-hating hystericals, and will forever be remembered for her desperation and sneering inferences of anti-Americanism by the Democratic nominee for President, Barack Obama.
I would like very much to be able to remember Hillary Clinton for her distinguished career as a two-term Senator from New York, or as an influential and groundbreaking First Lady from Arkansas, but this will be difficult, as the stamp of the hard-drinking, gun-toting, Obama-bashing tool of the Corporate Right from Scranton, PA is now so indelible as to render obsolete any former impressions of her upon the winsome hearts of Democrats from all across this great nation.
And that is one "thank you" that will be very, very bitter.
