How much proof does any Democrat need that the DLC is a toxic, destructive, republican influence on the Democratic party. Their favorite son, their "golden boy" choice to run against Rick Santorum in what will be the most watched campaign of 2006, has come out in support of Sam the unitary-presidency-fascist Alito.
So far, the only elected Democrat to support Alito has been Ben Nelson, the closest thing to Zell Miller in the senate. But at least he has an excuse. He's a democratic senator in a red state. Casey is just a shill for right wing counter agents in the democratic party.
Counteragents? Am I going down the deep conspiracy theory end? Maybe. Maybe Harry Reid, another antiabortion Dem is going to lead the senate to filibuster Alito, but so far it doesn't look that way. Maybe the Democratic leadership that is supporting Casey has picked losers for the past 40+ years of regular senate elections. If they are not counter-agents working with the corporations that rule the Republicans, they are just flat out losers.
I support decent pay for workers, so they can care for their families with dignity, without needing a handout. That's pro-family, pro industrious hard work, pro- self responsibility.
I oppose the frightening pattern of the drugging of America, where pharmaceutical companies are given carte blance, paid retail, to provide mind-altering drugs to millions of Americans, and worse, millions of American children. These policies come out of health insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies.
Now back to Casey. Here we have a perfectly good Blue state, with a republican candidate that every democrat loves to hate, who is eminently vulnerable. And the DLC republicrat leaders foist a republican look-alike upon the state's Democrats, bringing in heavy hitters like John Kerry and Barack Obama to raise millions, so this right wing fake Democrat is stuffed down the throats of PA democrats.
We see, in Illinois, DLC darling, Rahm Emanuel, going with the latest fad, shoving an Iraq war vet down the Illinois Dems throats, when Christine Cegelis did a superb job in her last effort against retiring incumbent Henry Hyde.
It is time for the mainstream members of the Democratic party to tell the right wing extremist DLC members to GO TO HELL. Get out of the party. Take a hike. Come out of the closet as the right wing republicans you really are. Start voting Republican. Maybe you can help the remaining sane republicans to take back their party from the nutcase theocrats who took over their party.
Casey's lead has already started collapsing. He had a 16 point lead a few months ago, and recent polls put him at a 10% lead. That's the way he's functioned in the past too. He had a big 17 point lead in the gubernatorial race against Rendell just a month befor the primary. Then his lead collapsed and he was creamed by Rendell.
Casey's supporters tout that he won by big margins in his latest election. But that election was a backwater minor league, minimal competition nothing compared to the race that will be held against Santorum. Casey will be attacked with withering Swift boat ads, because the right wing will do anything to keep Santorum in power. Casey has ZERO history of showing spine. He's been a stealth candidate who has been afraid to take a stand, or state publicly what his policies are on his campaign website on any of the tough issues. Well, now that we see where he stands on the Alito nomination, it's no wonder he's left his website bare on the tough issues, why he's refused, with lame excuses, to debate his democratic opponents, why he's refused to answer pollster questions (more on that soon.) It's not surprising Casey's supporting Alito. He's taken the same approach to avoiding questions that Alito took. You might even call Casey the Alito of the "democratic" party.
The DLC should be an issue in all Democratic elections. Every progressive democrat, every Democrat who wants to win should be demanding to know where any Democratic candidate stands on the DLC. And DLC supporters should be rejected at the primary level-- incumbents included. Period.
