Our Constitution Works!

By       (Page 1 of 1 pages)   No comments
Our safety, our liberty, depends upon preserving the Constitution of the United States as our fathers made it inviolate. The people of the United States are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution. Abraham Lincoln

One cannot look at the durable wisdom of our Constitution, and recall the deep commitment that unites our country, but one must think about the times that this same Constitution has come under attack.

The history of our past is inadequate to guide us today. The occasion of the birth of this great WeDems organization is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise to the occasion. As our approach is new, so must we think anew and act anew.

Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future. John F. Kennedy

I look forward to a future in which our organization will match its strength with our moral restraint, its wealth with our wisdom, its power with our purpose. If it fulfills these requirements, there will be a Progressive in the Whitehouse to join those Senators and Congressmen who already shared in the generosity of progressive groups.

In a very real sense it won't be one man going to the Whitehouse, it will be the entire nation, for it will take all of us to put him there.

Republicans have their alliance between Big Business, Big Government, Big Media, and Big Foundations against that we seem like midgets, all we have is "WE! The People"

Which reminds me we are supposed to be talking about the Constitution.

When I think about the Constitution, I think of my Grandfather Gillespie, he was a firebrand Democrat of the Adlai Stevenson and John F. Kennedy era. He once told me that "this country was built around a single document, the Constitution and that if I had it in my hand I could rip it into with little effort". Then he handed me an old telephone book from Detroit (how he got it down here in S. Illinois I have no idea), and said "Tear that in half, Applejack", he gave nicknames to all his grandchildren (My two brothers were Cracker Jack, Happy Jack. Attempting to tear it into by twisting it and failing I shook my head and was crestfallen.

Laughing he took the telephone book and proceeded to tear it in half, one page at a time.

"That's what Eisenhower and the Republicans are doing to America", he said, "they are tearing up our heritage one thing at a time", and "if this country don't get back to Democrats in government its only a matter of time until the Constitution, just becomes another piece of paper that can be torn into scraps by a baby".

I didn't know what he meant, I wasn't even a teenager at the time, but being the eldest grandson was the natural target for his views on the world at large.

A single few pages, that the Constitution is written on, has for over two hundred years, been the basis of our laws in this country. And it is very fragile, it can be torn usunder by careless, evil men, men like we now have in the Whitehouse.

In the last six years we have seen the greatest attempt made to shred the Constitution, a well planned effort by George W. Bush and his cohorts, who attempts to remove our civil liberties, to conduct unauthorized or unneeded searches, to circumvent its provisions, and when the court ruled against him, he thumbed his nose at them.

Our Constitution Works, so let us enforce the provision for impeachment of a setting President.

Why not, we had no idea that this President would seek to undermine our Constitution, our Bill of Rights, indeed the very foundations of the same "freedom" that allegedly inspired terrorism. He has attempted to sidestep the sacred separation of church and state, and give federal money to the tune of $40,000,000,000 to the religious right.

The introduction of religious passion into politics is the end of honest politics, and the introduction of politics into religion is the prostitution of true religion. - Douglas Hogg

Regardless of however many quotes one finds, there are those that point to the heart of the matter at hand. This President is a failure, he has committed crimes not only against the law of the land, but against WE! The People as well.

As a spokesman for WeDems, I will not commit this Democratic Organization to a commitment of seeking impeachment.

But as an American citizen I say impeach, convict, lock him up and please give me the key.

In the mean time you can sign the petition to Impeach Cheney, the first step in our Master Plan for taking back the Whitehouse. The petition is to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi:, Titled: "FREE WORLD From VP Cheney's Tyranny" hosted on the web by PetitionOnline.com, the free online petition service, at: http://www.PetitionOnline.com/WD13007/

I will make a bargain with the Republicans. If they will stop telling lies about Democrats, we will stop telling the truth about them. - (more...)
