How Long Before Petraeus Does a Powell Mea Culpa?

While a spineless Democratic Congress dithers on how to beat George Bush at his Iraq game, members of the House softballed Gen. David Patraeus, Senate members are playing a little harder ball with "his" Iraq progress report, and Osama bin Laden thumbs his nose at George Bush from far away Somewhere, Earth...how long will it be before Petraeus does a mea culpa a la Colin Powell?

How long before Petreaus does an 'ooops, my bad' as former defense secretary Robert McNamara under Lyndon Johnson did about his errors during the Vietnam War?

How long before Petraeus does a Powell too long after the facts came out and says 'I shoulda said...?'

Standing by itself, cooking the books should be enough to convince the believers that all is not kosher with the report.  If that doesn't convince them to at least think twice, nothing will.

Differentiating between being shot in the back of the head from being shot in the front of the head to classify the death as part of the insurgency or who-knows-what, goes beyond the pale of sanity and truth.

No matter how Petraeus portrays it, a shot to any side of the head whether it's by an insurgent, Iraqi militiaman, al-Qaida in Iraq, sectarian violence, or Iraqi against Iraqi simply because they don't like each other still screams out an Iraq that is in a state of total chaos.

Petraeus flatly stated "we're making progress in Iraq," yet he couldn't, wouldn't and didn't say where most of the data for his charts came from.

If any progress is being made, it's backwards progress.

So what if Powell took many things [lies] out of his report to the U.N. that the Bush administration had inserted into the text. Like Petraeus now, he didn't tell the truth then, and is as culpable for the deaths of 3,775 soldier's in Iraq as Bush.

Maybe more.  Powell knew what he was doing, Bush didn't and still doesn't know what he's doing.

Judith Miller, of New York Times infamy, came on my local radio station's morning guy's show (yeah, like we'd believe anything she says), and said Petreaus loves his soldiers to death and is the most decent, honorable military man she's ever known.  Funny, they said the same things about Powell.

How many more mea culpas will there be?  How much more American blood will be shed?  How long will it be before Gen. David Petraeus speaks truth, real honest to goodness truth to George Bush's power?

If he ever does, will we believe him?
