A couple of weeks ago a friend asked why I didn't go after a particularly rotten offense committed by the loofa loving, lying Bill O'Reilly.
I said because I really didn't care to write about him, and Steve Young and Keith Olbermann do a fine job of it already, so my two-cents don't need to be added to the mix.
That was until this morning. Because my progressive radio station had a local idiotic, braying ass subbing for Randi Rhodes, I tuned him in for the few minutes while I was making a burnt offering of toast for my breakfast.
Barely a half-dozen words out of his fork-tongued viper's mouth and I was seething.
Spittle mouth was drooling over his claim that if he were sitting in his pew at his Catholic church, and his priest had said anything remotely resembling what Rev. Jeremiah Wright said -- like capitalists are bad for the country -- yeah, that was his analogy, he’d be outta there in a New York minute.
Bill-O, you lunkhead. Even I know you are a captive of the Catholic church’s parish system, and you can’t just walk out and go to another parish church; not without special dispensation.
You wouldn’t be outta there in a New York minute or any fraction thereof, because you are a big-mouthed, two-faced, frightened liar.
If you were a man, a real man who really stood on principle, you would have led the march and desertion of your church in the first New York minute that the priest/child abuse scandal broke.
You, man-of-tongue-flapping-bravado , who led a holier-that-thou crusade against Ludicris for spewing a few raunchy rap music words chose to do nothing in the face of your Catholic church letting child molesting priests and their evil benefactors in the likes of cardinals Roger Mahoney, Bernard Law and others go free.
Oh, you paid some lip service to these deplorable acts committed against children who can‘t protect themselves, but you really did nothing that closely resembled what you should have done.
You and all your arrogance did nothing more than run off at the mouth with feigned indignation. Neither you nor your pope, who gave sanctuary to Law in Rome be damned are good people let alone good Catholics.
If you were a “good Catholic” you would have taken up arms against your own church. You would have led the parade with the same zealotry your tried to crucify Ludicris and destroy him.
You urged boycotts, not only of him, but of any station that deigned play his music.
Ludicris, Wright or anyone else who speaks words for which you have disdain shall be damned to the eternal fires of hell is always your answer.
Words might offend the sensibilities of some, but they do not irreparable harm to body, mind and soul as child abuse does.
The men of your church did far, far worse than let a few ill-chosen, misbegotten offensive words slip from their tongues.
