I can think of no more a craven way to sell his war and defend his legacy, than Bush’s own words, “at a gathering of Republican Supporters” Thursday, November 8th 2007, during a private fundraiser for Sen. John Cornyn where Bush predicted that, “history will bear him out.”
Saying that, “Some day people are going to look back at this time and day and say, 'Thank God there was a generation that did not lose faith ... because the Middle East is a place free of suiciders,'" Bush sounded like the craven soul that he is. He sounded like a desperate enough guy, to sell whatever poppycock comes out of his mouth, to whoever is willing to buy it, as long as his name gets to shine at the end of the historical process. Bush was very cravenly polishing up the doo-doo that he has made.
The very thought that Bush is willing to go into some tail spin that will take us from his lying about Saddam Hussein’s involvement in 9/11; to the story that Saddam Hussein has WMDs that we better get to before a mushroom cloud gets to us; to repeated often enough Bush line that we are fighting the terrorists there so we don’t have to fight them here, to <blockquote> "Some day people are going to look back at this time and day and say, 'Thank God there was a generation that did not lose faith ... because the Middle East is a place free of suiciders </blockquote> just boggles my mind and leaves me simply misitified!
Was the reason that our husbands, wives, children, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, are dying in Iraq, ever to keep “the Middle East a place free of suiciders?” That is one line I had not heard before, but it must satisfy some of those of Cornyn’s fundraisers present during that November 8th gathering at the home of Terrell Hills.
I mean, up ‘till now, I thought that the reason our sons and daughters, husbands and wives, aunts and uncles were dying in Iraq, was to keep those, as per Bush’s own words, those, “cold blooded killer terrorists” who want to come here to kill us, from coming here to kill us.
Not missing a step in selling his kool aid and praising his own craven decision to go to war Bush adds, “The decisions I have made will make it easier for your grandchildren to live in peace.”
Please. Are the Republicans seated at that gathering foolish enough to drink the Bush Kool Aid? Perhaps they are. Cornyn seems to full stock and barrel, so why wouldn’t his supporters whom in exchange for supporting him got treated to listening to a belly full of poppycock.I, for one, look at my now 7 months old grandchild and his still innocent mind and soul and wonder what the world will be like for him as he grows up in a world riddled with Bush ill will. A world tainted with the blood Bush has spilled on so many fronts. A world which holds the Bush War Debt. Yes. Bush War Debt. That debt which speaks to the financial cost of Bush’s war—that so called war which speaks to the invasion and an occupation of a nation that did not harm us. There is also the debt of moral responsibility for our having invaded, occupied, and killed many innocent Iraqi civilians on account of Bush’s greed for oil—along with the mainstream media’s greed to save Bush’s face, as well as their own pockets. How and when will this moral blemish come back to haunt us, or will the powers that be, be merciful to us and grant us forgiveness for allowing a deranged man to sell us into what he called a war?
What will this world, which has now been plastered with the hate and war mentality of the Glorify-War-Forever-Bush-Family, look like a few years from now?
A world where kids are no longer taught to think, a world where they are taught memorize rote questions on an exam, a world where higher education is hardly attainable for the middle class anymore. A world, in which, it is fair to ask, is there still a middle class? Because from where I can see, our middle class seems to be disappearing, like the slowly disappearing waters that fed our rivers, and tributaries, and lakes, and water sources.
What will this world void of creativity, arts and the humanity, be for our kids who want to be free-thinkers, or thinkers at all, or use their creativity in some good, liberal, progressive and humanitarian way?
What will this world be like when 12 year-olds sit under the shade of a ten, in a book fair, in the nation’s capital, or elsewhere, to listen to the author of a book talk about WAR, WAR, WAR, AND MORE WAR , killings, killings, and more killings...
Whatever happened to children listening to Robinson Crusoe, or The Old Man and the Sea, or The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Or Huckleberry Finn, or A Yellow Raft on Blue Waters, or Cloud Chambers ...
What will this world where Bush hides inside the People’s House, which no longer is the people’s house, to drain us of our blood, our national treasury, our souls and those of our children and grandchildren be like? What will this world, where Bush hides inside the People’s House to perpetrate his robbery of our peaceful existence and an avant-garde society where kids do learn, ideas flow, and creativity flourishes, be like in the next few years? ... What will this world be like in the next few years for our grandchildren? What will it be like even for ourselves in a society that is languishing as Bush tightens his chains all around us.
It is too bad that Bush listens to none of us, to the people who are reality based and who have a bone or two to pick with him in the name of those he has already killed and in the name of those he will go on to kill.
It is too bad that as Bush seeds his turmoil, ill-will and hate, all over the world, he escapes facing responsibility for any of it. ...
Bush has the gall not only to excuse himself from any responsibility for all the pain and chaos that he has created.
