Delusional opposition to economic stimulus portends opposition to needed climate change action The economic security crisis and the climate security crisis and the geopolitical security crisis are one monster with three heads. Great Nations & Industry Captains Ignore Thugocracies in Burma & Darfur Do not allow the leaders of the great nations or the captains of industry to wring their hands and tell you there is nothing they can do; there is a lot they can do economically and politically. But, to them, profits trumps human dignity, human rights, and even human life itself.

Election Security Update: How Bitter can the Irony Get? Now that the popular voter uprising is so overwhelming that it will be difficult for the right-wing to steal the election (although, of course, it is still possible that they have disenfranchised a sufficient number of voters), it is the Democratic Party that will be accused of stealing it. And the Party leadership has only itself to blame. Indeed, through participating in the HAVA farce they helped enable what is happening.

Will the US Electorate Lay Down in the Poppy Field Sowed by Right-Wing Propagandists & Tilled by the Corporatist Media? Time to start reading aloud in the town square those truths that the right wing propagandists want hidden: 9/11, New Orleans, Bill of Rights, Geneva Accords, FOIA, FISA, Congressional subpoenas, stolen elections, the firing of DoJ attorneys, Don Siegelman, Valerie Plame, and more. The past 7 years brought us catastrophe; will the electorate embrace more catastrophe?

Sustainability and Human Rights Are Inseparable It is absurd to imagine that we can drill and dam our way into the future. And here are two poignant reminders -- one from Malaysia and one from Canada -- that the blind will to drill and dam our way of out of this crisis is worse than absurd, it is obscene.

Darfur Crisis Update: Standing behind Luis Moreno Ocampo Those of us who will not rationalize away what is happening in Darfur live in this netherworld. Mia Farrow lives in it.
