I'm poking my head up since the gulf oil disaster. It's not enough to limit my attention to the sphere of things where I can effect change. I need to be better informed and have a sense that my awareness, thoughts, words, actions matter, that I can be part of change vs. of a mute immobile witness to decline. Sitting on the sidelines being a good mommy/housewife/self employed dweeb who pays taxes on time is not enough. It once seemed - not so long ago! - enough to raise good kids, pay taxes on time, be a good neighbor. Times change.
