Moon Of Alabama was opened as an independent, open forum for members of the Whiskey Bar community.  Moon of Alabama's purpose is to discuss politics, economics, philosophy and blogger Billmon's Whiskey Bar writings.

Some time ago, the commenting at Billmon's Whiskey Barbecame a bit excessive. Billmon therefore closed the comments at his place on June 29, 2004. The community of commentators was left behind to search for a new place.

Moon Of Alabama was opened as an independent, open forum for members of the Whiskey Bar community.

Bernhard started and still runs the site. Once a while you will also find posts and art from regular commentators.

The name of the original Whiskey Bar was taken from Bertolt Brecht's Alabama Song where the first line goes:

"Show me the way to the next whiskey bar".

The name Moon of Alabama was taken from the first line of the chorus of that song:

"Oh, moon of Alabama ...".

The design of this site has been directly stolen or re-engineered from the Whiskey Bar site.

Why Is Biden Creating Himself An Iran Quagmire? Since he came to power President Joe Biden has done nothing to revive the nuclear agreement with Iran. The JCPOA was breached by the U.S. in 2018 when then President Trump left the deal and renewed a 'maximum pressure' sanction campaign against Iran.

By Wrongly Calling The Capitol Rabble 'Terrorists' Joe Biden Will Likely Create Some Those rabbles were in no way terrorists. They were not even a mob. Most of them were out-of-town rednecks who felt that they had been wronged. They wanted to express that. They were surprised when they found how easy it was to enter the Capitol and they apparently took more time to take pictures than to rearrange the furniture.

What Would A Democratic Presidency Really Change? Pepe Escobar is as pessimistic about a Harris (Biden) administration as I am. The incoming foreign policy team would be the return of the blob that waged seven wars during the Obama/Biden administration.

In Which We Debunk A Covidiot Pamphlet On the recent open thread commentator ADKC quoted from a post at the corona-nonsense blog Off-Guardian. The piece, published last week, is an updated rehash of one the same author posted in April. The more recent version is unfortunately no better than the old one. It repeats false numbers, is scientifically astonishingly inaccurate, and draws false conclusions.

Strategic Aims Behind The War On Armenia On Sunday Ilham Aliyev, the longtime dictator of Azerbaijan, launched a war on the Armenian held Nagorno-Karabakh area.
