Are Sotheby's Steinmetz diamonds blood diamonds? Sotheby's Diamonds' partnership with the Steinmetz Diamond Group exposes its shareholders to moral and legal risk. The Steinmetz Diamond Group funds and supports a unit of the Givati Brigade of the Israeli military. The Givati Brigade was responsible for the massacre of the Samouni family in Gaza - a suspected war crime. Diamonds that fund war crimes are blood diamonds. Sotheby's has ignored this risk to their business.

Israeli Authorities drop a major fraud investigation to protect the Israeli Diamond Industry The Israeli economy is dangerously over-reliant on the diamond industry. The industry is a major source of funding for the Israeli military which is guilty of gross human rights violations. Israeli diamonds should, therefore, be regarded as blood diamonds (not "conflict diamonds" as described by the Kimberley Process). When a fraud investigation threatened the industry authorities agreed to drop the investigation.
