I dreamt that I was at a left wing meeting
All the bleeding hearts
Were loudly beating
I heard anger, at the war,
Racism, corporate capitalism
And more
Five thugs strolled in
To crash the meeting
They threatened us
With one ass beating
They were dangerous
And scared some
They were professional,
Law enforcement scum
One by one
Sometimes two or three
The crowd of hundreds
Began to flee.
Some stayed right there
And yelled in defiance
They looked behind them
At their shrinking alliance.
The gangsters seized
The time real fast
They grabbed three leftists
We were aghast.
They had them
Lie down on the floor
And kicked and punched them
And threatened more.
We watched frozen
With anger and fear
As more snuck away
In the rear.
Like a herd of gazelles
Terrified, they won't be back
Like when a lioness separates them
From the pack.
I awakened feeling scared.
When the fear had come and gone,
I thought,
Pacifism is not something
I can sleep well on.
