Catholic Leader Rejects 'Jewish State'

Racist and ethnic and exclusive religious ideology, whether it be White Anglo-Saxon, Germanic Aryan or Jewish Zionist, has no place in the modern world, for it is only egotism writ large, the arrogant belief that I, or my "kind", is better than my neighbor, and, by the way, why I don't I diminish and abuse my neighbor just to strut my stuff. This inevitably leads to treating non-Jews, non-Germans, non-Wasps, etc., as second and third class citzens in their own countries, or worse. I thought that we fought World War II and went through the Civil Rights movement in America to put an end to such noxious creeds, and yet we close our eyes when it inconveniently surfaces again.

In particular, why do we tolerate such attitudes in Israel, our close ally? What is even more ironic is that the Fundamentalist Christian movement in America supports almost whatever Israel does unconditionally, including discrimination against Christians in both Israel and the occupied territories. Perhaps they don't even realize this, or perhaps they don't care, if these Christians happen to be Eastern Orthodox or Roman Catholic.
