Thinking back on 2007 I realized that I was being duped into paying
higher bills than I had expected.
The following are some of the dubious business practices I encountered personally. Let's start with Verizon. I purchased a "DIRECT TV" package that they originally quoted at $134.95. My first bill was $155.00. Naturally the quote
did not match the bill. After some time on the telephone I was able to get a new
package for app. $100.00. Makes you wonder, doesn't it? Verizon and other companies throw in free services during a trial period. What they don't tell you is that they will charge you for these "free services" if you don't tell them to cancel the service. Some people won't question the higher bill after the trial period, and the company has another scammed victim.
Another interesting tactic is used by A T & T. They have changed my billing cycle so that my payment is due only 3 or 4 days after it is received in the mail. Since I was used to having a 2 week window to pay I didn't pay on time and had to pay a finance charge (very sneaky).
On the list goes on and on. Be sure to check the itemized services on your cell phone too. You may be paying for services you don't even need or
want like "call waiting" or "caller ID".
We live in an increasingly corrupt world. Unfortunately. many people will
take advantage of you when they can. Do yourself a favor and check your bills carefully. Fight back!
