Deism works to counter the religious right

As we see the religious right continue to make gains from rewriting history textbooks to winning raw political power as in the case of Virginia's and Pat Robertson's Bob McDonnell, people who do not want to live in a theocracy need to quickly find a real profound counter to those on the religious right. It appears the best counter to the religious right is Deism.

Deism is belief in God based on the application of our reason on the designs in Nature, the study of which is science. Deists reason that the designs point us to our Designer, or as described in the Declaration of Independence, Nature's God. And since Deism is based on reason, it rejects unreasonable claims such as the Bible, Torah or Koran being the word of God, etc.

A great individual example of Deism reaching those in the religious right is Tim Wingate. Tim was an ordained Protestant minister and active in the religious right. However, after Tim learned of Deism, he gradually evolved out of Christianity and the religious right and into Deism and the World Union of Deists. He is now the WUD Deist Contact for southeastern Minnesota. You can hear him on a recent radio program discussing Deism and Christianity. Also on the same program is Jayson X (Jayson is a teacher from Texas and can't reveal his identity as a Deist for fear of losing his teaching position), the Deputy Director of the World Union of Deists. Jayson also came from a Christian background and was an ordained priest of Eastern Orthodox Christianity. Click here to hear the program.

Albert Einstein said, "We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if mankind is to survive." Deism is that new manner of thinking.
