Censored by AOL
Timothy V. Gatto
Today I was informed by Emily Spence that my E-mail was being blocked by AOL. I called AOL and talked to a man with an Indian accent who asked for my E-mail account AND my password. Being curious and because that particular password is only used on that account, I gave it to him. He proceeded to put me on hold and then came back on and told me that I had problems with my account and that I would have to pay charges to get them fixed.
I then got a little angry and told him "What a minute Buddy, I'm not a customer of AOL and I just want people that use you to be able to write to me!" At that point he hung up on me. I called him again and told him not to hang up on me and reiterated what I had told him the first time. He hung up on me again.
The last time I called, I demanded to speak to a supervisor. They put me on hold and in about five minutes, they hung up.
I would like to know what AOL is up to! I have a standard Hotmail account. Is it because of my writing? Am I on some kind of list? Another acquaintance of Emily's has the same identical problem. For your information, Emily Spence sends out a newsletter about the different trends that are taking place. Now I am excluded from receiving her information. Is this the first step in censoring the internet? I wonder just what it is AOL is up to?
BTW, This is their message to Emily Spence
