Subject: Murder of 5,000 Persons Post-Katrina Impact
On Sunday, September 28, 2008 at a news conference in Oakland, CA, you claimed the "Pentagon" authorized the execution of "prisoners" with one bullet to the head following Katrina's impact and then dumped the bodies in a [Louisiana] swamp. You also alleged that you were aware of this "story" for an unspecified time period and heard it from the mother of a National Guard soldier who said her son was assigned to help dispose of the bodies.
To quote your words, Ms. McKinney, "And these were mostly males and her son was afraid to talk because he had signed a silence agreement. So he only complained to his mother. But the data was entered into a Pentagon computer." You also claimed that the story was verified from "insiders" who wanted to remain anonymous. "I suspect that these are prisoners... So this investigation of the whole prison industrial complex is extremely important and it should not end with just a question of the nature of prisons in our country. These 5,000 souls also need some justice too."
Admittedly, this is a horrific charge that you have leveled against the Pentagon and Federal government. And certainly, if true, requires that justice be granted to those murdered. However, you have been uncommonly silent since that Sunday in the wake of announcing this alleged crime. I respectfully request that you explain "why" you have not spoken further on this issue and "when" you intend to follow-up your claims with additional information that supports your claims?
Many people from differing political perspectives believe that this allegations need to be either confirmed or denied in the short-term, as opposed to the long-term. Truly, they have a bearing on the current presidential campaign. Ms. McKinney, your immediate respond to this request is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and consideration regarding this matter.
Very truly yours,
