I had to retire recently because of personal complications in my life. I had to spend more time at home taking care of family businesses and could not continue at my old vocation because of the grueling hours and pace that was demanded. I would have loved to have continued to work, but it was an either/or proposition.
It seems that there are a lot of people today who are out of work and that those who ARE working are having to work harder than ever and are more punchy than emergency room doctors. Wouldn't the sensible alternative be to shorten the work week to 32 hours like they have in France? People who didn't work would have badly needed income and people who did would have badly needed rest. Any thoughts or opinions?
