Given the new American thinking on trying anyone just accused of terror, why shouldn't other legal systems worldwide adopt the same policies? Accuse anyone of anything related to terror, have secret trials with secret evidence, use any means necessary extracting confessions, and hold detainees indefinitely with conditions kept secret, is that justice?
If the US government has wrongdoing to hide, it is in their best interest not to have the accused talk in trials, even if they are guilty as charged. If the terrorist plan was known about and then helped along, shouldn't the American people be made aware of this? Those who acted illegally get punished on both sides of the conspiracy for actual crimes committed, so where is the downside for we the people?
If the US court systems where obviously guilty perpetrators of crime can't be found guilty as charged, what does that say about the court system? The truth is, completely innocent citizens are convicted and hauled off to prison way more than any guilty parties get away with committing heinous crimes. If the process really works, let it work.
Because the government says something is good for us, doesn't mean we should take their word for it. How is taking huge amounts of taxpayer cash, called a "Stimulus", to pay billions of dollars out to bankers for performance rewards, bonuses, after they plundered, stole, and wasted billions? Should questioning outright lies of the US government cause a citizen to be put on a watch list to be hauled off for detention?
What if an American is accused of committing some act in another country. Was he or she set up? Was the evidence and witness statements made up? If Americans are hauled off for secret trials and secret detention what would official America say about that? If authorities anywhere make official statements of someone's guilt and the person is just hauled off to be processed in secret, there is no freedom, there is no justice. Let us let freedom ring. Freedom and justice should apply, even in America.
