-Friedrich Nietzsche, Beyond Good and Evil
It isn't only religion, but many aspects of socialization that the "herd" demands conformity. I'd rather be free and outcast than socially imprisoned and accepted. Look also at the way elders demand that young men in particular break their backs, like slaves, to afford the acceptance of society. Even if you took a sh*t job at McDonalds to be able to claim "employment" they would still piss in your face for not being wealthy enough. The broken backs of these men and women are responsible for their own plight in society. They feed their false god who could not survive without them. It is only when they find you useful that their criticism ceases. They want control over you, not salvation for your soul.
I was not born to please others. Their acceptance of me is NOT a priority. This disgusts them because they are insanely jealous of a free mind. They would like to put the chains upon your mind and throw it into the abyss that they have been drowning in since the day they were born. No man may be an island, but the free man is damned and determined not to be the "herd's" life preserver. Once you have renounced their device of control with its threats of eternal damnation and social ostricism you will get your first glimpse of freedom. What they say is God is not God. It is merely their will to power. This is why Nietzsche said "God is Dead". This means to me that their reign of terror is over. Religious god damned terrorists who pray with brainwashed people and then ask them for money. They take this money and buy their way into more power with politicians, deliver the votes of their devotees, and create a vacuum in which one hand feeds the other ad infinitum.
