My understanding is that the prize is decided in February of 2009 and it covers all of 10 months of 2008. President Obama was running for office during most of the time that the committee looked at the nominees to decide who to give the prize to for 2009. Most people don't know that piece of this puzzle.

So who else was in the running along side of Obama? Unfortunately we will not know for fifty years. But can we guess?

How about the young American woman, Rachel Corrie, who gave her life in 2003, or someone like her. She gave her life to stop the Israelis from destroying Palestinians homes in Gaza. What more could she give? I would bet out of the thousands of nominations she or someone like her was among them. How about giving the peace prize to the people of Gaza for their continued suffering----send a message to Israel.

How about people who staged, what they had to know was a very dangerous, protest in Iran? Some of the leaders will be executed. Many died, how many we don't know.

How about our own Cindy Sheehan, surely she has given more than President Obama has for peace. I could go on and on, but just one more person must be mentioned, her name is Margaret and she is 87 years young. She stands, most Saturdays, on a street corner with her friends to demand peace in the world. The committee sends out thousands of requests for nominations and they picked President Obama? The good news is he will give the money to charity, (so he said) and that is better than giving it to a war criminal like Henry "Killinger. (Kissinger)

If you think that President Obama deserves this Peace Award, you may be living in a cloud and need to come down and face the fact that he is now deciding how many men and women he will sacrifice for gas/oil! Afghanistan is crucial to the transport of oil in the Middle East. There are plans to build a pipeline going right through the nation so the West can have its black death. We are in serious trouble because for the first time many of the national peace groups are tied in with the democratic party and refuse to go after Obama for the same things bush did during his murderous Presidency. I will remind you that Obama is a politician and you must not put your trust in him, support him when you must, but watch him always. At the end of the day, he may become a great leader, but now he just says things better than bush. We shall see.

As far as the criticism of Cindy Sheehan for taking this on--- "Forget about it , she is a hero and should be honored by all of us.

Short Bio I was born in Brooklyn, New York in May of 1942. My first memory was the wonderful block parties that celebrated the end of WW2. I don't remember much but it was exciting and I could see how joyous people could be during a major (more...)
