Very rough interview notes (incomplete, sentences included.)

United states govt is trying to portray Afghan war as humanitarian, but it's simply not true.

400 people every day are displaced because of the war in wretched afganistan refugee camps.

over 40 people have frozen to death in them.

US wants to stay beyond 2024 in Afg

Taliban says if the US stays, they will keep on fighting.

Rob: What is your understanding of this latest atrocity?

38 y/0 father of two children-- previously did rotations in Iraq.

Went to each of three separage households and killed 16, then poured chemicals on the bodies and put them on fire. This is a hideous and horrific act..

4 killed by helicopter attack,
Earlier attack on hillside
Burning of Koran.

For the US to be ramming through a strategic partnership agreement is a bit incongruous with what is happening on the ground.

Use of Drones is consistently and repeatedly killing innocent civilians and children.

All across afg-- combinations of aerial attacks, night raids... they ask who supplied the evidence to the US that the victims were enemies of the US?
Why on the basis of a doubt, without hard evidence, would people be assassinated /attacked? Why should the US be judge and executioner.

Rand corporation has said althogh 65-70,000 analysts are poring over drone surveilance... they say that they'dneed over 100,000 analysts to do it right.

Afghanis are told that it will take 100,000 analysts to understand---

They don't understand that it's wrong to throw a grenade over a wall to kill a child in a cot, to burn Korans, for food to flow into convoys, and meanwhile, right across the road, you've got families huddled against the cold, on the brink of starvation.

It is the case that the US as an occupying power, under international law, is responsible for caring for the refugees, is failing reparation for the carnage and damage?

The afghan govt doesn't want people staying at the place they're wandering to.. They can't dig wells or latrines--- there's plenty of responsibility to go around.
Over $2 billion is being spent every week on the war.
Also, billions being spent by relief agencies.
All the agencies that are supposed to be helping

We have to look to the united states as the occupying power-- international occupying forces and NATO-- are in charge.

When spending $2 billion a week, the responsibility should be to take a portion and entrust it to people who make sure that food and fuel be made available....

I'm asking for reparations to be paid-- wreckage, carnage, exacerbation of poverty--

What is VOices for Creative Non-violence--

we learned that where you stand determines what you see. If you are standing next to to the people who are bearing the brunt of the USA's military---- you see things in a very different way.

We've gone into the courts, protesting drone warfare.
We've organized delegations who, after visiting Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria-- can talk to neighbors about what is going on.

Aiming to target NATO meeting May 1st to 17 Walk from Madison to Chicago to protest NATO. May 20-21, NATO summit being held in Chicago.

NATO-- in Libya, Syria?

NATO should be holding a retirement party. We don't need it anymore.
Other see it as a group to deliver US values.
The greatest terrors we  are facing are t he terrors we are doing to our own environment.

The United States reliance on NATO-- threat of destroying--

NATO has , through multiple presidencies has built up an armed infrastructure has built up an alliance-- that threatens other countries.

49 countries in NATO

The US is not afraid of what Afghanistan can do to it, but is afraid of what Russia and China can do-- so this gives them hundreds of bases next to China. Could use Afghanistan for  a staging base for China, Russia, Iran.

War Drums in Iran are part of politicking.

Iran now has allies with Russia and China...

If the US public is convinced that we are engaging in a humanitarian war, there will be indifference.

Candlelight vigils being held this week.
Why not gather some friends and light some candles
afghans for peace is coordinating the vigil.
