The Inflation Reduction Act is expected to pass the House and be signed by president Biden this week. Among its provisions, thanks to Senator Joe Manchin, are tax credits for Carbon Capture technology to scrub carbon out of fossil fuels when burned. Here is one such newly discovered technology. At just $40/ton, melamine is inexpensive, readily available, and efficient when combined with other common chemicals. If it works, it could be retrofitted onto old coal and fossil fuel plants, capturing carbon and easing the cost of the transition to green energy.
