Bolivian President Evo Morales on Thursday, May 1, (Labor Day) signed a decree raising the minimum wage by 20% ($ 200) per month. Morales, of Indian origin and former producer of coca, candidate for a third term in the presidential election of October, also gave a 10% increase to all public sector employees. He then took the lead with several trade unionists and members of his government on a popular march in the streets of the capital, on May Day. |
