Embracing Public Schools as the Very Definition of the Common Good; by Jan Resseger

This is one of the best of Jan Resseger's many brilliant posts. In it, she quotes a surprising source, who explains the importance, centrality, and  necessity of public schools as anchors of their communities. "A just and good society balances the rights of the individual with the needs of the community. I believe that the majority of Americans embrace these values.  I wonder how we have allowed our society stray so far."
