What we also have now is a man who said he'd defend the Constitution, but has helped to destroy it, especially the First Amendment and the right of habeas corpus; a man we thought was honorable, but whose word cannot be trusted; a man who spoke against Guantanamo and abuses of power who now is abusing power in a record manner; a man who taught Constitutional Law at The University of Chicago, but whose hubris as president led him to forget his own lessons; a man who said he understood poverty and other cultures, but was as Anglo and ethnocentric as any president of recent years.
Like Emperor Jones, he didn't fully realize the reality of the situation he came into -- hubris blinded both Jones and Obama until it destroyed them. In the case of Jones, it only destroyed a small-time, lying criminal. But in the case of Obama, it not only destroyed him but it may destroy a nation as well through his misdeeds, mismanagement, and by his failure to lead the nation while allowing the Tea Party and such ilk to gain political power because of his mistakes and those under him in his cabinet and in the Congress and Senate.
