Illegal migrants entering the US are not, in general, and aside from a few isolated cases, a direct threat to the American public.
However, the entrance of massive quantities of illegal drugs into the US pose a massive, immediate and direct threat to US citizens. Growing numbers of people are dying from overdoses on fentanyl - a dangerous substance that has spread throughout the street corners in every state.
Expensive and ineffective gestures by Abbott will continue to have a detrimental effect on the state of Texas, on the migrants and on the United States of America. Politicians should not - cannot - be allowed to play freely with the lives of those seeking a better life. Abbott must be held accountable for his actions and he must immediately cease and desist from taking further steps that will threaten the stability of the Biden administration's sound border policies.
At the end of the day, Abbott's policies are destroying America. His political stunt by sending the migrants to the nation's capital does nothing but divert attention from his own problems in his own state.
It is without any doubt that thousands of Texans as well as many residents of other states are crossing their fingers in the hope that the midterm elections will see the migrants in and Abbott out.
