Though Trump is no longer on the scene he still wants to run again in 2024 making speeches to the MAGA crowd. He's a self important charlatan, blowhard and a fraud who I believe incited the crazies on January 6, 2021 to scale the Capital walls and illegally enter the building. He should be held accountable for allegedly inciting the crowd that day and if found guilty punished for his role.

However...that is a separate incident and Trump hasn't been found guilty in a court of law.

Therefore now-or better before Musk's purchase of Twitter-banning him for whatever nonsense he may be spouting is legal if the Constitution's 1st amendment has any meaning.

Many years ago in the 1970's neo-Nazi's wanted to march in Skokie, Illinois spouting whatever bilge they had memorized. They were refused a permit and banned from marching. However they appealed the ban on 1st amendment grounds which eventually made it all the way to the Supreme Court. SCOTUS overturned the ban and the neo- Nazi's were allowed to march this time in Chicago.

There are regulations against free speech. One can't yell "fire" in a crowded theater as this threatens patrons and a would be stampede for the exits.

George Carlin once said something to the effect, "There are two knobs on the radio, one is on/off, the other changes the station". Simply put, if you don't like what is being said you don't have to listen to it.

On a personal note if some religious preacher is shouting his beliefs on a Sunday morning on a station I usually listen to for music I turn to a different one. I don't need the government to tell me what to do.

Let's be clear. When the government wants to ban speech it disagrees with they're bordering on fascism.

A true democracy is messy because it allows for the free flow of information.

In America today our so called democracy seems to be sliding down a slippery slope into censorship of speech that runs contrary to governmental acceptance.

We're either a constitutional democracy with the 1st amendment protecting freedom of speech or a fascist dictatorship that limits and restricts what is allowed to be said, broadcast on the airways, or now what is allowed on social media platforms.

It's either one or the other. We can't have it both ways.
