What the Obama Administration did was cave-in to a host of present and former law enforcement officials that are simply "Lobbying" the government to ensure their own job security and help to guarantee that federal funds will continue to flow into their respective departments to fund a "War on Drugs" that has been a miserable failure and is helping to bankrupt our nation. You can bet that the "Prison Industrial Complex" has also lobbied the Obama Administration to keep pot illegal as it's highly profitable for their corporate backers to continue incarcerating Americans, and even if they have to imprison people for offenses that are absolutely absurd, it's the profit that counts, not our rights.

I invite all of you to visit RAW Story and read some of the hundreds of comments that were made in reply to their story. In the many years that I've been reading political websites and attempting to understand our corrupt political processes, I have never witnessed such anger or venom aimed at our government. Admittedly, I also made a rather venomous comment which was levied in anger and indignation at a government that is treating us like children rather than respecting a process where majority is supposed to rule; instead, bureaucrats whom are far more interested in lining their own pockets are making policy rather than listening to scientists and physicians whom have proven that pot is far less dangerous than alcohol or tobacco. (I was going to publish some of those comments here, but now there are so many, and some of them are excellent that we believe it would be better for you to read them yourself rather than us attempting to pick out which are best suited to demonstrate the anger of America.)

Rather than re-writing why Social Security recipients should be outraged, I'll reprint what I wrote a few days ago, and then in Part II of this article, provide concrete evidence that the government lied in regard inflation and why they are penalizing those who are on Social Security:

I just read where Social Security recipients will not receive a cost of living adjustment for 2011 because inflation is low. I can't speak for others who are on Social Security, but I know that my drug deductibles doubled this year, and like most people, I carefully watch the prices of food and fuel both which are rising, but especially wheat, and everything else associated with wheat!

Did someone forget to tell our lamebrain Congress that this year was the hottest in recorded history. For you idiots in the White House and Congress, that means that our electricity bills this summer were the highest I have ever witnessed, and everyone I know of has not recovered from trying to catch-up with power bills that were absurdly high. That is environmental, however, the government is aware of these facts and it is extremely disingenuous to claim that because inflation is low, we don't receive a cost of living raise just as we didn't last year either"

I'm curious do the corrupt politicians in Congress ever penalize anyone other than Social Security or Medicare/Medicaid recipients? How is it that our nation chooses the poorest segment of our population to make budget cuts while our Congressional vultures are constantly raising their wages? Perhaps it's time that the millions of Social Security recipients raise holy hell and just maybe, someone in Washington will listen. Everyone in the United States that lived in areas where the temperature was at an historic high are aware of the strain it has had on buying other items, like food and medicine, and perhaps Obama can get his head out of the Corporate World he lives in and offer the common man/woman a break but I doubt it.

Social Security: No 2011 increase

By Jeanne Sahadi, senior writerOctober 15, 2010: 9:44 AM ET

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Social Security beneficiaries will see no increase in their benefit checks next year, the federal government said on Friday.

For more than 58 million seniors and other Social Security beneficiaries, 2011 will mark the second year in a row without an inflation adjustment.

inflation has been low in the past two years because of the recession. The Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday morning reported prices were up only slightly over last year.

The last Social Security inflation adjustment was in 2009: Beneficiaries got a higher-than-normal 5.8% increase because of a temporary spike in energy prices in the third quarter of 2008.

Soon after, however, energy prices plummeted. Then the bottom fell out of the economy and by the third quarter of 2009 overall price levels had fallen 2.1% from the same period a year earlier. That meant no increase in 2010 Social Security benefit checks. MUCH MORE

(Please note that CNN also failed to mention the extremely high energy prices all of us had to pay because of living through the hottest year in recorded history; how could something that important escape the Presidency, Congress, and the News Media? (Heavy sarcasm intended.) LINK

Based on the timing of this announcement, all of us have to ask ourselves just who the Obama Administration is representing. It certainly isn't "the people," and it honestly appears that he is more interested in aiding the GOP and Corporate America.
