Remember the Gulf Of Mexico disaster? It was a clearly mostly irreparable harm done to the US by the foreign entity. TikTok is going to be banned now because of such accusations. But the harm done by BP was incomparably worse than the one attributed to TikTok. The BP chairman though came to visit Obama like a King on a visit to a province. He was not detained, he was not put to shame, nothing happened to him.
One of the most unfortunate Obama's blunders was his betrayal of the OWS movement in the Y2011. When young people rose for justice and against crookery, Dems abandoned them and unleashed the police. I clearly remember the statement of one of the leaders of the OWS at that time:
- Dems lost our support forever.
One of the evident boundaries of that circle as I see it was that Obama was not given a chance to become a leader of his own party. Here the difference with Trump is striking: Trump was a GOP leader since Y2016, he kept the party in his political grip all along since then. As Trump is a figurehead, that means that the GOP was effectively given to him by the Republican power mongers. Fine. But for some strange reason the first young, capable, hopeful President after Kennedy was never presented as the recognized leader of the Dems, far from it. Moreover, the party distanced itself from him, his name was not a party capital and his endorsement was always met with a shrug , to say the least. It was as if the party did not care for the man with power. Dems seemed to feel uneasy about him, the biggest symbol of their success. They seemed less comfortable with Obama than with Clinton. They did not associate Obama's successes with the party. Why so?
The perfect example of that was ACA. It was a crowning achievement of Obama administration despite all its imperfections. Healthcare in the US is in seizure. ACA was definitely a step in the right direction. Here we could see Obama at his best as a skillful politician.
But Dems did not put ACA on their banners. They voted for it but did not promote it as foundation for the future universal healthcare. In most campaigns by the mainstream Dem candidates, they seem being uncomfortable mentioning ACA even. ACA was a good thing, it helped people, but Dems were not happy with that goodness. In the Y2017 ACA was saved by John McCain, the former GOP candidate for the presidency; he came out as a real hero, second time in his honorable life.
After Obama left the presidency Dems did not engage him in the politics of power at all. His role was continuing to be symbolic. That harmed the party immensely, but Obama never tried to change that.
On the foreign policy issues Obama demonstrated an 'American Ignorance' in abundance. He promised to close Gitmo, that ' shame of the century' and abandoned the idea. He never rescinded the PATRIOT ACT. He did not stop the US aggressive behavior and the similar behavior of its satellites. He exercised the TV- execution of alleged Osama Bin Laden and we, the people had to watch our President following the target killing of a person on the foreign soil. Not a trial but a killing. It was an unnatural scene, as if we all were in some grotesque movie. Nothing but fear and disgust.
The US does not have a foreign policy of the country. Per Brett Pitt's persona in the " Killing Them Softly", it is a place of business. Business though has no honor. The US foreign policy is deliberately dishonorable. That became clear in the Y2014 when Obama's administration effectively used the Ukrainian nationalism to destroy Ukraine, similar to Clinton's destruction of Yugoslavia before.
Ukrainian nationalism is not just a destructive force as all such movements are. It has a horrible legacy, clearly exposed at the Nuremburg Trials. Ukrainian nationalists served Hitler loyally. Practically all mass atrocities in Ukraine, commanded by SS, were performed with an active participation of the Ukrainian collaborators. And not only in Ukraine. All of that darkness rose again, installed a nationalist government in Ukraine and was actively supported by Obama's people. It lead only to mayhem and deaths. It was a really bad call. Still is.
Ignorance is a demonic possession per Karl Marx. I suspect, Obama never heard about Lvov Pogrom, the Ukrainian SS Division 'Galichina' and the Baby Yar massacre. He was informed about Stalin's confiscations of grain and artificial famine in the 1930s and never pondered further. He did not care.
I was born there. On June 22, 1941 my father, then 11 years' old was the only surviving child after the German bombing of the children's R&R camp in Crimea. My mother, then 10 years' old, survived the machine- gunning on the refugee road by the German fighter- plane and she actually saw the face of the pilot. My father's cousin, then 12 years' old was not so lucky. She was shot to death in a massacre of Jews in one of the small ghettoes in Ukraine in 1943 and there is an irrefutable evidence that Ukrainian collaborators were the primary murderers. But there were more massacres, much more. In the WWII Russia lost 26 million people, two or more millions out of those were lost while liberating Ukraine. A Harvard graduate should know his history. Ignorance does not become a constitutional scholar. Carelessness is not a virtue for a person in power. It is a vice.
To summarize, one can see pretty clear the Obama's activity as a President was marked by strange indecisiveness and lack of resolve. He was and is a smart person. He surely understood what was coming. But he did nothing to stop the moronic evil from creeping in. There is a difference between an honest man and an honorable man. If a man sees someone being drowned but he himself did not push a person into the water, he is still an honest man. But if he knows who pushed a person and neither did try to prevent it, nor did he try to rescue the drowning- then he is dishonorable. The country was drowning. Obama knew it and did not help. Make your conclusions.
As a person, Obama has all my sympathy. He is a capable, charismatic, brilliant man, obviously a great father and a family man. If he was a private citizen, there would be no qualms. But the score is very different for those who are given power; with power comes responsibility and the necessity to constantly resist its corrupting influence. Obama failed on it and it became our failure. Now we know. End of the story.
