The Children's Aid Society was able to prevent her eviction by securing a one-time rental payment of $2,400 from the Human Resources Administration. The Neediest Cases Fund contributed $174 to fill two of her prescriptions.
The Children's Aid Society is also helping her transfer her rent subsidy to Jacksonville, Fla., where she has family.
"I really want to get away from here," she said. "I just don't feel safe."
