The Senator is even on the record as saying ecocomics is not his strong area of understanding! Not a great thing to mention when the economy is now the NUMBER ONE concern of the electorate!

Like many other viewers, at that point I asked myself: "Is this the man I want running the country?" Not surprisingly, I have been asking myself that question repeatedly lately, after watching John McCain expound on topics big and small, and seeing him come up with ideas and positions that cause me to scratch my head and wonder if he is REALLY this out-of-touch, or whether he is just relying on his 'handlers' to (mis)manage his campaign. He seems constantly to try to steer the discussion toward the ongoing wars in Iraq and, Afghanistan, the push for war with Iran, and the nebulous 'War on Terror'.

While that topic may be his biggest area of expertise, unfortunately for him and the Republican Presidential aspirations in 2008, McCain's positions are diametrically opposite of those of the majority of Americans, who are weary of both the never-ending war, and it's downward drag on the economy and Americans' rights and freedoms.

If this scenario continues to play out, the only votes John McCain will get in the general election are from the hard-core Bush supporters whom he strangely seems to be embracing, and those who would rather vote for Satan than a Democrat. Not a pretty picture for either John McCain or the Republican Party.

I am a 47-year-old lifelong Republican with strong libertarian (small 'l') leanings. I have felt the party has left me over the last 8 years, as more money and big-government interest took over the leadership.
