I found my artistic voice because of him.
Ask yourself, what did Bush do for you? One thing you will thank him for and be happy about is the fact that he played his part oh so well.
Bush showed us what this empire is capable of if men allow power to corrupt absolutely. He showed Americans what “manifest destiny” and expansionism and American exceptionalism can really do to the people of America and the world.
Because Bush played his part superbly, Americans questioned their government, became introspective, and chose to take it upon themselves to engage in grassroots action from the bottom-up so that change could be realized.
In that sense, Bush’s legacy will be that millions of Americans were so turned off by the ideology and conduct which sprang forth from the Bush Regime that Americans began to stop taking marching orders from government and began to speak loudly so that no matter what someone who was nearly polar opposite to Bush in his or her philosophy or ideas on governance was elected.
So, let us rejoice. Let us rejoice that Bush has finally returned to Texas where he belongs. And, let us remember today along with the past eight years.
Today sparked memories of American history, but let’s remember the darkest moments of George W. Bush’s two terms of office instead of war stories from the Revolutionary War that have little to no bearing on the next few months.
Remember the torture, remember the war crimes, remember the lawlessness, remember the theocratic policies, remember the imperialism and exceptionalism, remember the unilateralism which stained this country making the world sour at the thought of America for the past few years.
Millions who braved the cold and endured pain and anguish to get to the Inauguration and back to home will never forget what they did. It will leave an indelible print that people will always remember. Therefore, the people will not let Obama "fail" and if he falters, they will be sorely depressed and upset with themselves and with Obama and America itself.
The struggle for equality in America reached a milestone today, while the struggle for a more egalitarian society started in front of the Capitol right under the noses of those on Capitol Hill who claim to work for “the people.”
“…Our journey has never been one of short-cuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted - for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things - some celebrated but more often men and women obscure in their labor, who have carried us up the long, rugged path towards prosperity and freedom.” –Barack Obama, Inaugural Address, January 20, 2009
Our failure to take risks may result in another dark era which Bush created in America and if the people want change and hope to be here to stay, we must not shirk from our duty to ask questions, challenge prevailing wisdom, and struggle with people to re-envision the way American society functions.
People of America, take risks. And, let us all be happy today and steadfast tomorrow.
