I am disappointed and sorry to see a publication I once respected regurgitate, entire and unexamined, industry talking points. Scientific American has discredited itself, and we are canceling our subscription.

He received B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Idaho and a PhD from Michigan State University. He is a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College and Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Before joining the Department of Botany & Plant Pathology at Purdue in 1971, he was a pathologist at the University of Idaho.
