Freedman thought none of these points salient enough to cover.       

I am disappointed and sorry to see a publication I once respected regurgitate, entire and unexamined, industry talking points.  Scientific American has discredited itself, and we are canceling our subscription. 



[1] Don Huber, PhD, is Professor Emeritus of Plant Pathology at Pursue University, West Lafayette, Indiana.  He received B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Idaho and a PhD from Michigan State University.  He is a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College and Industrial College of the Armed Forces.  Before joining the Department of Botany & Plant Pathology at Purdue in 1971, he was a pathologist at the University of Idaho.
