Re: Petition calls on NY Attorney General to request federal court order for a new New York Primary, citing civil rights violations of 200,000+ voters
Dear Mr. Bharara,
On May 2nd, we sent a moveon.org petition to New York Attorney General,
Eric Schneiderman, signed by over 6,300 individuals, calling for a new completely redone New York Primary. Here is the petition:
pac.petitions.moveon.org/sign/a-new-new-york-primary
A full month later, Mr. Schneiderman's relative lack of response and relative inaction have now lead us to consider other means of formal request for a Federal Court order for a redone primary, complete with safeguards, monitors, forensic computer experts, and observers.
We are now asking you to take on that responsibility with or without the Attorney General's office in Albany, and possibly other plaintiffs to be determined.
The strongest grounds for such an order derive from 200,000+ violations
of Federal Civil Rights and Election Law statutes.
We strongly support you in your efforts to go into Federal Court for an order for a redo of the NY primary, based strictly on these civil rights violations. These 200,000+ voters disenfranchised are very strong grounds for granting this relief, starting with a federal order for the
decertification of the prior election results as incomplete and
fraudulent.
When you and your staff take the time to go to the petition website, you
will read many comments by New Yorkers detailing their own personal experiences of not being able to vote and their willingness to testify.
Much of what I have read about your ethics and statements online, such
as, "There is no prosecutors office in the state that takes more
seriously the responsibility to root out public corruption in Albany and anywhere else that we might find it, and I think our record speaks for itself," offers hope to those working at the grassroots.
Thank you for your reply. The nation is watching and all eyes are on New
York. We have faith that you will do the right thing, let the press know as soon as your decision is made, and that we can move forward to a partial restoration of what is left of America's Democracy. Thank you for everything you and your office can do to bring this about.
Sincerely,
Lisa Canar Seattle Washington

To The Honorable Preet Bharara,
June 6, 2016
I zealously support your efforts to ask a Federal Court for an order for a redo of the New York Primary. I am a tenured sociology professor employed by Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, New Jersey. However, I am a New York City resident and voter. I don't believe that I am being hyperbolic when I claim that I'm terrified by the level of fraud displayed in the current election cycle. Bloomfield College is a PBI and it is quite challenging to convince students to become engaged and combat alienation when such actions do not lead to consequences. I submit that there still remain some politicians in this world who are worthy of the public's trust. I believe that you are one of them. And so, I entrust you with my faith.

Dear Mr. Bharara:
I am writing to support your eventual efforts to bring about a new New York primary, with all the mistakes and voter purges prevented in the redone primary. We ask that your efforts be vocal and come soon.
Over 126,000 voters were dropped from the rolls without their knowledge or consent. Some people found that their party affiliation was changed as well, barring them from voting in the Democratic primary. That was just in one borough alone (Brooklyn). This level of election rigging is unprecedented in American history, and cannot be allowed to stand unchallenged; otherwise, the presidency and our democracy will be stained and impugned forever.
Furthermore, it is my understanding some but not all of the provisional ballots issued to voters were counted. Moreover, some voters were turned away without provisional ballots by uninformed poll workers. In other places, voting machines were not functional or polling places were closed altogether.
A recount would not be sufficient to remedy these problems. That would miss the point entirely. These are civil rights violations, and as such, would constitute superb grounds in Federal Court as immediately actionable to first decertify the results in that ripoff of a first primary.
We need a brand new primary with all these issues cleaned up. Thank you for your efforts to make this happen. Your leadership and guidance are at this point indispensable and we hope you prove to be as incorruptible as you have thus far seemed to be, thus warranting this request to you now.
Sincerely,
Celeste Leibowitz

RE: Please redo New York Primary

Dear Mr. Bharara,

I am a Bernie delegate for Washington state, and I have seen the fraud perpetuated all over the nation in this primary. From reduced polling places, to delegates being scrubbed, this election has been stolen. There has to be a better and more humane way to participate in this important process.

I am asking today that you please lead the effort in Federal Court for the NY primary to be recertified with the proper safeguards put into place this time. I have seen your record in prosecuting high profile cases, and I have no doubt that you can successfully prosecute those responsible for the massive election fraud that has occurred in New York. That is later, however, after using the civil rights violations of those purged as the chief grounds for a Federal judge to grant a new primary.

Decertifying the former NY election, then having a new one, with safeguards in place, would set a precedent for other states all over the country. NY could be the leader in the movement of making our elections truly free and fair, all because of your leadership, sir.

Thanks for your consideration in advance,

Sarah Stephens, LD Delegate for Bernie Sanders

Honorable Preet Bharara:

In 2008. I was a poll worker in your state, for which I have a great affinity. After closing, the Working Families Party's column was completely unreadable from the tabulator. In the 2016 NY primary, things got significantly worse. Voting locations and hours were cut and changed without notice. The poll workers were ill informed and many voters were unable to have their votes counted. The basic right of a citizen is to caste their one vote. If that right is violated, as it clearly was, with so many cases of documented fraud and purging emerging all over our nation.

One person one vote has been violated. Request this basic right be upheld. Please ask the Federal Court to order a redo of the primary.

Respectfully,
Emmy Koponen Santa Fe, New Mexico
