Naumann suggested the threat of nuclear attack was a counsel of desperation. "Proliferation is spreading and we have not too many options to stop it. We don't know how to deal with this."
This is a the shop sign of a going out of business US imperial empire that cannot figure out how to liquidate itself.
Nato needed to show "there is a big stick that we might have to use if there is no other option", he said.
The US DoD is cryin and the only answer they can come up with is to leave us all blowin in the (nuclear) wind.
Good job, guys! We pay you well to come up with these answers.
The real solution is not a strategic military one
to what ails NATO and the rest of the West (who is no battle with Islam, that's just hype we paid to hear coming from Great Leader)
The answer to the mess is US, you, me, We the People
Here is Chalmer's Johnson's conclusions about the United States in his brilliant NIE:
It is difficult to predict the course of a democracy, and perhaps even more so when that democracy is as corrupt as that of the United States. With a new opposition party in the majority in the House, the country could begin a difficult withdrawal from military Keynesianism. Like the British after World War II, the United States could choose to keep its democracy by giving up its empire. The British did not do a particularly brilliant job of liquidating their empire, and there were several clear cases in which British imperialists defied their nation’s commitment to democracy in order to keep their foreign privileges – Kenya in the 1950s is a particularly savage example – but the people of the British Isles did choose democracy over imperialism, and that nation continues to thrive as a nation, if not as an empire.
It appears for the moment, however, that the people of the United States prefer the Roman approach and so will abet their government in maintaining a facade of constitutional democracy until the nation drifts into bankruptcy.
Of course, bankruptcy will not mean the literal end of the United States any more than it did for Germany in 1923, China in 1948, or Argentina in 2001. It might, in fact, open the way for an unexpected restoration of the American system, or for military rule,
Do we, We the People, who had a real shot at democracy allow these kinds of military rulers to lead us (covertly feeing from Gates and Cheney's trough) - or do we go now, put on our coats and hats and stand in our malls (while they're still around ) and hand out information on IMPEACHMENT AT LAST, putting OUR Agenda "on the table", demanding adherance to the Supreme Law fo the land -which includes Geneva and start the Education for Democracy Project, with a full will to seeing it mplemented.
Do we allow Dick Cheney to come in and subvert the international rule of law on OUR watch?
Do we QUIT the windowdressing of the primary process and get real -- or do we "go quietly into that good night" getting high on drugs and booze, watching infotainment, being fed lies, tolerating corruption, letting people get away with NO TAXATION to maintain the commons?
Bush is going to Paraquay, Cheney has moved his operations to Dubai. We are left with the mess AT HOME ON OUR SOIL.
WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?
If you think (rigged) elections are going to bail out the mess you are certainly sadly mistaken - IF you think that our Constitution provides a solution (national sovereignty is still here folks despite what Dick Cheney THINKS) then you must go out and sign the petitions, you must show your neighbors What is To Be Done. And I suggest that you do this SOON, as Cheney's racketed up the propagana to get Iran turned into a parking lot so Halliburton can keep making insane profits (and KRB for BuZh) at our expense ..
