To remember the past we have to preserve the past. Learn from history. Don't hide, destroy, or erase history.
The more we look into every nook and cranny of history the more regrettable flaws-some horrific-will we find. So, do we discard everything or do we take what's good and move forward?
Perhaps the best answer to that question is a comment from Mahatma Gandhi when he was famously asked "What do you think of Western civilization? His answer: "I think it would be a good idea"--which implies, "they ought to try it."
