It should be pointed out that the date of that rally is April 29, trump's one hundredth day in office. It also coincides with the date of this year's White House Correspondents' Dinner, noted earlier as the event that became the catalyst for trump's presidential candidacy.
A trump supporter may well portray their president's penchant for staging rallies as simply part of a well-thought-out plan to maintain their "movement's" spirit, energy, direction, and purpose. A trump "resister" may see them as epitomizing the premise of Butz's "loose shoes" joke by providing a revealing example of the extraordinary lengths some people will take to avoid responsibility.
Still others -- this writer included -- may view such behavior as a truly frightening depiction of human pathos: a sad tableau of a man on treadmill trying desperately to run away from himself.
Off to yet another warm place to sh*t.
