Similarly: Einstein is paraphrased as stating , "You cannot solve [many] problems from the same level of thinking that created them in the first place."

Meanwhile, our personal experiences of suffering and our observation of other beings on our planet may awaken humanity and soften our hearts by burning though the unconscious greed, fear and denial that now divide us. This witnessing (if it is not successfully coopted by egocentric, power-hungry and destructive leaders) may set the stage for a new compassionate and wise human alloy to emerge from the furnace of the next super-heated decades.
OUR GREATEST CHALLENGE
It can be argued that the most difficult challenge we are facing is not merely devising solutions to the energy crisis (e.g., peak oil), energy wars, the climate crisis or the future flood of refugees.
In the midst of dealing with these tragedies, our challenge is bringing images of the human journey into our collective awareness; stories that empower us to look beyond a future of great adversity and enable us to see a future of great opportunity.
If we are serendipitously blessed, this will be our "bottom" - and the beginning of our recovery. If we are fortunate, adversity will give rise to positive and empowering consequences: massive social creativity and a reconnection with our roots which, will be seen as Universal in nature.
