We are die-hard supporters of Bernie Sanders for president. We don't know what else we could have said or done to make that more clear.
But in light of the result in New York, and the states this Tuesday, the fact is that we have fallen short of the top slot this time. That's just the mathematical reality given the number of delegates left to be allocated. We have long said that whoever got the most pledged delegates, leaving any super-delegates aside, should be the Democratic nominee. And whether we like it or not, that person will now clearly be Hillary Clinton, absent some cataclysmic collapse.
So what do we do now?
And you can find the same action page on UTalk, where we have social media sharing fully leveraged.
Tell Clinton To Choose Sanders as VP (on UTalk): https://www.utalk.us/?a=choose_bernie
Here's what the action page simply says:
'If you are selected as the Democratic presidential nominee, we call on you, Hillary Clinton, to select Bernie Sanders as your VP pick, a true, joint unity ticket. This is what it means to listen to the people."
Let us be very clear about what we are not saying. We are NOT saying that Sanders should stop campaigning for president. NOR should he offer himself as VP. To the contrary, it is up to us to make the proposal.
In the meantime, everyone in the remaining states who thinks Bernie would be a better president than Clinton needs to continue to hold to that view and vote that way.
But let's also build the back up plan for the movement of the future at the same time. It needs to start immediately, a future we STILL, and will always, believe in.
